mk1a sub... where is it??

Post by harajuku-girl »

Did all the 1a's come with subs under the seat? i just purchased a c reg and theres no sign of a sub or that there ever was a sub there at any point. (it could of been removed but as i said no signs of one ever being there), also it has a strut brace up front, i thought these only came on t-bars? though again this could of been added at a later date, thuogh it looks asthuogh its been in the car a while.

The strut brace did come as an option on some cars with sunroofs/moonroofs in USDM/JDM. But in the uk, only the T-bars came with them. Its a welcome addition though, so I would leave it there.

All 1a's did come with subs IIRC, its actually bolt to the base of the seat itself and only small (looks like this)

They were tempramental though so taken out by some owners. the wires should still be there. the wires come out of the back of the floor ridge that the front of the drivers seat bolts too.

Thats weird as the one in mine and my dads's MK1A look like this:

I had also had to purchase a front strut brace as my MK1A did not come with one as said by cartledge_uk they came with the T-bar MR2's so its good if yours already has one.

Don't worry about the sub, they are not very good by modern standards, if you replace the standard speakers and can always mount one in the door. Much better and depper sound than using a sub from over 25 years ago.

UK moonroof cars never had the strut brace in the UK, was only in the T-bar version. They are quite useful though, they help the car turn in quicker and are a worthy addition.

But be warned you then lose the ability to lock the sunroof in the frunk.
