[Mk2] [Turbo] Rev 2 Turbo Power Steering failure

Post by Sparkie »

I have a 1993 Rev2 turbo with a Rev4 engine. The fault has been there before the engine transplant so pretty certain it is not related to that.

The fault is the power steering only works for about 5 seconds when the throttle is on full.

Still or driving normally the power steering does not work.

I have replaced the 2 PS ECU's, the relay and also the pump. The fluid has been changed and as far as I can find I am getting voltage throughout the system.

Any ideas

Regards

How good are you with wiring ?!

To find the fault could take hours ie.. engine Ecu gives off a signal feed, is that making it's way to the pas ecu ?! Signal fault, ecu fault etc

The pas relay is simple, it's a high amp switch that's driven with a 12v switching source ! Should be 2 small wires going to the relay, ones an earth, ones a feed ! Can cut them both, earth one out and stick a live feed from the ignition somewhere ( like radio ) Youll be able to find a switching live in the front fuse box ! Get yourself a multimeter....

Get the swtched live going to the relay and you're laughing ! Pump should work without any interference from the pas ecu !
