Thinking of selling up.

Post by Timsmr2 »

Basically thinking of selling up as I have far too much money invested in the car for something that I hardly drive. So wondering if you guys could help me figure out what its worth. Any advise is very much appreciated, I know its hard to put a price on some thing like this.

Car:

1990 Rev1 turbo mileage 159,000 km (just shy of 100k miles) Aqua marine pearl. Bought as standard car in 2003. Spends 99% of its time safely tucked up in the garage only come out if its being worked on or the odd drive.

Rebuilt at 141,000km with fully forged engine etc. Currently running 420.5 bhp @ 1.7 bar on a mere GT28.

For any of you that read MR2 Only magazine it was featured in the current issue (Issue 22 page 20).

So here are some images and a list of modifications (since pictures were taken I have done some engine bay tidying and also had the alloys refurbish and powder coated black)

Only one way to get any real cash back.... break it.

the car as it is, is not worth much more over a standard one

Yep This is what I was thinking. But it would be a shame to break as its a really good car.

Thats the way of the market at the mo matey, theres been a few high power 2's that got broken for parts as no one is gonna offer your the right price for it and any geninue offer will be no where near what you'd hoped for it, I'd say.

Cracking engine and power there!

i'd strip all the goodies off it and then sell them seperate then sell car seperate too,

or if you've done too much internal work swap engine with bog standard one and sell it on

I have been thinking about £7-8k. Does that sound reasonable to you guys?

I think I could make more in parts but it would be nice for it to go to a good home.

Very nice :thumleft:

I think it would go for that....but be warned you will regret it afterwards - I've been there and so have many others in here I believe....and you would end up buying another one and spend even more money...but if you're determined good luck with the sale.

you will never get 7-8k for that as a whole car, NEVER! just have to look through the previous forsale cars that have bigger builds/more power/more goodies and they arnt even fetching that.

i agree with dale v, you'll never get that sorta money for it even thou its worth it especially with people being skint lately.

the only way to get close to that is break it, or let it go for silly money and get rid and regret it or the option i said earlier

Never say never. This is one sorted car. Everyone knows what it costs to get a car to this state of tune. I would advertise and see what happens if you want to sell.

For 400 plus bhp it still represents awesome bang for your buck recession or no recession.

I took £7500 for my 635bhp, fully kitted, carboned, monster build MR2. No way are you going to fetch that kind of money for yours mate. Time to break it unfortunately :(
