Rev 1 G-Limited speed restrictor

Post by guypevbay »

How does it work ???? Scoured the net and can find electrical speed de-restrictors but cable drive ?? I don't understand how it could work ! Mines only got 110 mph speedo, but had it right round (on axle stands of course)
Just curious,,wondered if anyone could tell me,,,,Cheers

ECU will know how fast your going so will kill the power after you hit 115.

You need a mechanical delimiter.

Don't really want one thanks for offering. 115 mph on axles stands is fast enough ! So i guess theres something behind the speedo that sends signal to ECU . Why can't you just disconnect speedo cable at gearbox ?

If you do that then you wont know how fast you are going and the mileometer wont work.

You can sometimes get away with putting a switch in the wire from the speedo to the ECU. When you want to be rid of the limit open the switch.

Caveat:

You will almost certainly get an engine check light if you do this as the speed pulses will drop off. This will put the engine management into safe mode and limit the boost if it's a turbo. The PAS will also switch off making the steering quite heavy, so you'd only want to open the switch above 70mph. If you are past the point where you need the boost then it's an OK way to cheat the limiter.
