hi,

MRD went out of business some time ago (so my research leads me to believe). I think a few people on here have enquired with the owner and they can still be supplied to order. Just bare in mind the the sideskirts were £600 alone back in the day.

I don't know why but it seems as if there really isnt many cars with this kit. Those that have are sold with the car only - trust me I've tried!

Hope that helps

There does still seem to be a demand for this kit but the price was rediculous for the poor quality fitting original kit. I paid £650 5 years ago. All the fitted kits I have looked at and had photographs sent to me show the same poor fitting up the rear of the front wheel arch and around the inner door.

When my kit was fitted the bodyshop asked me to call around before going ahead with the fitting to show me the problems they were having with the kit. I contacted MRD and they would not replace the kit and said to take my car and kit to them and they would do a perfect job. Two of the other guys on the forum had their kit fitted by MRD and took photographs of the areas I requested and MRD had same fitting issues. Its as if too much material had been cleaned off the sideskirt when taken from the mould. Needless to say I did not take my car to MRD.

Too bad no one has acquired a set and made a decent fitting copy.

nothing comes up when I click MRD??

@tubby_tony - how did you resolve the fitment issues? I have a set of sideskirts which certainly need a bit (ahem) of work. Worn away where the base of the door meets the skirt and some other areas that i can't remember.

I was originally going to fit this to my turbo (when I get around to getting one) but now am thinking that a replica of the MRD kit might be a better opition? (meaning I can put the proper one i have on my N/A).

From my understanding there is a lot more work that needs to be done to the original skirts to make them fit nice...i hope the rear spats dont need so much work!

Thanks! I just went through the whole thread again. Really nice work there.

I think for the OP this is the best option for MRD skirts. I searched high and low in the past for them. Now I have them I can see the fault areas. Robbrookes ones look really really good. I'm tempted to get some more (especially if i could wangle the April offer price!). Then again. Two MR2s might be worth doing 2 different kits....

What would a ball park be on spraying them do you think (factory - cosmos blue). I was originally going to keep the N/A standard but might tart it up since the Turbo wont be bought for a good while yet!

Just out of curiosity - what would be the process for making these? As in isn't a mould from a mould going to create more problems?

I paid £550 to get splitters, side skirts and a rev5 spoiler painted in carribean blue and for the kit to be fitted. That was 5 years ago.

Regarding my fitting issues, the biggest problem is the lack of material going around the inner door. Did not want to add fibre glass to it and build it up as that was more labour costs. So there is approx a 5-7mm gap which can only be seen when the door is open. I did not want to fill the gap with anything else. I think that link above to staffsmr2kits would be worth investigating. Ask for some pics around sill and rear inner door with doors open. If there is no gaps and for £300 I would bite his arm off.

The MRD side skirts were nice. you should be able to get something very similar,if not the same as the rear splitters. I always felt the front lip was a bit forced, liken they felt they had to change the standard lip in some way. The ferrari-esque front bumper was nice though. I used to have an MRD carbon exhaust, was great, definitely preferred it to the nur spec I have now!

MRD have most definitely NOT gone out of business - I went there just a few weeks back so can say that with certainty.

Theyre landline is: 0151 931 2227

or the chap who runs it Les's mobile is : 07710721000

I used to own a car (shown below) with a full MRD kit on fitted and painted by MRD and it was excellent so cant understand the comments above.
