Post by chirlie »

Hi there realy thinking of selling up :(
so here goes, the car has givin me nothing but trouble in the past year .My dash lights sometimes come on and car has a small missfire i think and runs like a bag of poo when just started, dont no much about fixing them and funds are very limited to. seriously thinking of selling the NIGHTMARE car as all i get is stress when driving as always something wrong everytime i drive it ](*,) . i put all new dissy cap rota arm and plugs in but still has a small miss and runs abit ruff, and if i toutch my dash my auto gauges go on and off so have to be like a frozen rabbit when in the car so they dont go off ](*,) .Sorry for the long winded post but just needed to vent b4 i take the dam thing of a peer :pale:
The car still has more problems like stinks of oil when up to temp and sometimes it will drive ok and the next day driving it comes to boost then jst jumps like kangaroo petrol till i let off ](*,) realy starting to hate my so called pride and joy now :(

Change your oil...not for that recycled tesco $hit...propper full synthetic 10/40. Read the sticky about it on here...also I would say that you've either an air leak inbetween the AFM and throttle body or a faulty AFM, the testing procedure is a piece of cake and can be seen in the BGB. Don't realy know what to say about your electrical prob, can't quite picture what you're saying...sounds like a bad earth, which can be rectified by making your own from the circuit thats failing and a good grounding point on the car...

No worries....I have recently been suffering from an air leak as I have described...Before I discovered where it was I replaced the Throttle position sensor, plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm, coil and semi convinced myself that although my AFM test results were ok, it was still intermittently fkd up...like you my probs were when boosting but the prob was simply a fatigued inter cooler hose that had dozens of tiny cracks running through it, not even visable untill I took it off and gave it a propper bending and squeezing, you can imagine it ballonig out under pressure and all those tiny gaps opening up...rev 2 are very intollerant of air leaks as it messes up the air intake info sent to the ecu from the AFM, thus overfuelling causing misfiring and bogging down...pound to a penny it's a simple but obv frustrating prob. I have also read in recent months that there seem to be quite a few damaged coil probs so that would be worth having a butchers at that also...another typical running prob for rev 2 is the water temp sensor being knackered, it's the green one (the lower of the 2) on the front side of your water elbow...above it is the cold start timer switch but this only works for around 20 seconds to help out when it's cold...both are easily damaged...if you have a sandwich plate fitted for oil pressure / temp guages they can leak quite badly on rev 2 as they're just to near the downpipe and can't handle the heat. Stick with it man...sell it when it's fixed :thumleft:
