Mitch, I don't immediately recognise this name. What's his IMOC "handle"?

Michael I am going to PM you as we need to sort out a bit of the IMOC stand and stuff - i.e. do we need gazebos and banners etc. and what time to get there for the set-up.

I thought both Mark Edwards and the white drag car (MR2) were well down on power from the dyno run at JAE anyway?...290hp Mark Edwards? 380 white one (misfiring... :( )? or did I hear it wrong...Surely there must be some of the big boys up for some action? I always hear rumours of 500+ MR2s knocking around, but I think they're myth as they never show up to anything lol.

Good luck anyway guys, I know you'll do your best and that's what counts ey

Mark was having a few little issues that are going to be ironed out hopefully by all accounts!

Can't comment on the scottish car, though I do know Dino rushed over there to help fix a busted oil line!

No, you heard right, mate.

With Mark's, we were expecting something like 330-340 at the hubs, but he "only" got 296. We reckon it was the ignition system not working too well at anything above 5000RPM. You could see his Air Fuel Ratio going VERY rich at this point, and you could see the effect on power. He since changed out the plugs (about time too, Mark!) for some new, properly gapped ones, and we did a bit of rewiring to make sure that the AVCR could see RPMs higher than 6000RPM, as it was making boost drop off at the top. It should be performing a lot better now.

With regards to the monster MR2, we were expecting high 500s at the hubs (close to 600bhp at hubs), but it only put out 372bhp at the hubs. It blew a fuel hose on the first run, so we searched around in my boot and engine bay for a hose that could replace it. We eventually used the brake vacuum hose off my car, and this sorted out the leak, but there was a BAD misfire. Put it this way, it was bad enough to be losing about 200bhp!!!

I agree, many supposed 400+bhp MR2s, but I've not seen any in the flesh myself either, other than AndyF's.

Lol...oh dear...my car in current trim then had more power at the hubs than the white 2. Were there any cars pushing 400 at the hubs at JAE?.

Mark was sniffing around my car on saturday I think (on the Rogue stand) but I wasn't there to say hello.

I sort of wish I'd got my lazy ar$e in gear before now and put my name down for totb...

It's strange isn't it? I posted a while back asking for other bigger power MR2s to post graphs and figures out of interest..see what power there was in the UK...I think that most of them don't use the forum (I can't see there being more than a handful anyway) or are hot air for the most part..it's easy to say 'my mates MR2 is 400 hp' I remember some tool with a rev1 he'd got a filter, exhaust, blitz dump valve and was going to fit an I/C (this was in the back of Banzai I think) he was saying his car should be putting out 400hp. :|

Don't know about other cars. I would have thought so, considering there were Supras and Skylines going on there, but you never know.

What's yours putting out at the hubs then? What's the spec?

Yeah, you *should* have if you've got more than 372 @ hubs!

I'm sure there are a handful around (I've spoken to a couple, although never seen the cars), but I think you're right. They don't post. They've got nothing to prove, I guess! :)

I was referring to the MR2 crowd that were there...I can well imagine the 'lines etc would be putting out way more than that in some cases.

Mines 380 at the hubs, hoping to get a bit more out of that. Spec is in the garage, just added a few more pics so should be on the front page.

I know that if you've got a quick car you don't have to shout about it, nothing to prove and all that...but if you've spent a lot of time and money on a project you should be proud of it and let people know what you've done etc...no point building a fast car then moving to a remote island off the tip of scotland and becoming a recluse lol. I would just find it interesting to see what sort of proven power there is here in the UK, see where mine would sit, gives you an idea of what to do to achieve things.

I spend most of my time in my xtdt306 just pootling around enjoying 45mpg, when I get in the 2, I drive it the same way lol.

Nice spec. How do you find that turbo, lag wise?

But I agree, we should share. So when do I get your keys? ;)

I've got similar thinking to you. I like to share info. In fact, I go out of my way to help others bit the benefit of my experiences. I could keep tight lipped about it all, and gain an "advantage", but what the hell? I don't plan on having the most powerful MR2 by ANY stretch, so why not help others that do? For a while, a lot of people considered me "competition", and I'd either get abuse or people arguing with me. If I took that all to heart, I wouldn't be on the forum anymore. But I guess I like helping people, and the majority that I do help are grateful for that.

You've also got to remember that a lot of people don't necessary like to post on this forum, regardless! There are probably considerably more readers than there are posters. Also, some people don't even bother with the forums at all. I know of a couple of "powerful" MR2s that their owners don't ever go near a forum.

But I agree, it's good to share. So when do I get your keys then? ;)

Exactly, and I have also found some people niggling with my car...which is daft.

T67 lag wise isn't bad at all..it comes in around 3000rpm ish? and takes about 1 second to build to full boost and then you're away. If you keep the revs about 3k it's pretty much full on boost. Saying that, if you are pootling in 5th it does take it a while to build boost, but when it gets there it's silly. I can't imagine what the T88 would be like? boost not coming on till 6k? pointless unless you're on the strip lol.

Next event I'm at (not totb) give me a shout.

8) The trust IC is arguably the best air to air cooler on the market...

Hopefully find out just how restrictive and limited that core is soon enough ;)

You running at totb?

Was that with a correctly installed puller fan on the core? did you heatshield the piping? did you have the revision 6 fan kit?

It's great, I drove 120 miles home from JAE at a steady xxx mph got back, opened the lid and just clasped my hands on the icy cold IC piping.

A chargecooler is the way to go though, not a fan of water injection as you rely then on something that can run out...don't want to be giving it full boost on a system setup for water injection...then run out of water...er no. [-X

Yes, Yes and Yes - it was still rubbish when ambient got anything over ~25 degrees.
