V POWER usage

Post by rico1979 »

hi all i put £35 worth of v power in and only got 112 miles from it, now this is my first tubby and im not expecting 80 to the gallon but surely 112 miles for £35 is pointing to something majorly wrong

any help would be great :?:

I also get this, if you find the problem let me know :thumleft:

Oh and is this town usage? Hard driving or easy driving? Do you use it for lots of short trips (eg work) ?

So that's roughly 17mpg (working on roughly £1.18 / litre) now, i'm presuming town driving/short commute? I can average 13mpg when town/commute, but managed to stretch out 30mpg on a long motorway run.

yup thats probably right then if it is just town driving. I made £40 of Tesco Ron99 go in 104 miles from town driving back and forward to work. on the motorway you will get better mpg

What car did you own before?

Like I said, it amazed me seeing 300 miles to a tank on a steady motorway run, but I average 120-140 miles to a full tank normally.

My old rev3 turbo used to use about 30 miles to a tenner, thats gently town driving.

My present mr2 rev3 turbo, which is pretty modified is getting around 60 miles to a tenner of v-power, i'm actually shocked how good it is on fuel! compared to the last one! the other day put £20 of V power in and it lasted about 130 miles. which when you say it sounds absolutely shocking to somebody who owns a normal car, but in an jap turbo i think its good! :thumleft:

My rev1 N/A is currently on 330miles with quarter of a tank left. That's mainly doing an 80 miles a day round trip to work - 97% motorway. The car could do with a service, so i reckon i can push 400+ out of it when it's running smoother.

v-power is £125.9 at my shell today :(

So measuring xxx far on £10 is never the best comparison

here's what I do:

reset the trip when I fill up.

Always fill to the brim, or as near as damn it as I can get.

when I feel like filling up, compare the miles driven, with the amout of litres it taks to brim the car again.

So today, I put 38.00 litres of v-power in, and the odometer said 178 miles.

178/38 = 4.68 miles per litre

* 4.45 = 20.8 mpg.

I do mostly short shopping trips, with the odd blast, so I'm quite pleased with this.

When doing a motorway run at 0.8 leptons, I can get 350 miles from a brimmed tank (say 45 litres) which is 35 mpg.

Normal driving is 220 a tank, which is again around 21 mpg.

As I always say, my MR2 uses twice as much fuel as my old car, but I enjoy driving it twice as much :)

hth

I get about 250miles out of a tank on the motorway in my Tubby. If I'm going anywhere via the mway I actually get there quicker in my 306 turbo diseasel as I can afford to cruise alot faster in that

I get roughly 250 miles out of a tank too in day to day use - mostly 40-60mph. I have got almost 300 miles on a motorway journey though :D
