Pfft, lightweight. I only have respect for those that have football stitching imprinted on some part of their body :D

Thats a point - Tiamat, do you still have that picture on your phone?

I'm really glad I was on Laurens team, it's that desire to win at any cost :)
BTW, Tiamat and Lauren scored our two goals, and I missed an absolute sitter (although I was rather surprised when the opposition crossed in infront of goal straight to me..) - was one of those ones where you kick it, and instantly you think "oh bu66er, that wasn't right at all"...

have to say the weather was a wash out and maybe compared to some other stands we did not have the best display.
but does it really matter? met alot of people i did not already know, saw some fantastic cars and generally had a great time.
its the people that make JAE as well as the cars and whilst i appreciate it was dificult to get into the gazeboi area by the tents we had several visitors during the two nights i was there and everyone seemd to be well received and have a good time.
i will be back next year (car permitting) and expect to have another fantastic time.
furthermore, in response to some of the comments (this will probably get me flamed) but if you want it better then get involved and make it better.
it was the mk1 people setting up and clearing up (and benf in roadster) and trying to organise everything.
i did not see the admin people get a chance to go out and around the site to enjoy the show as they were around trying to be there for people to talk to and to deal with any problems.
i for one will be volunteering my services for next year to help out and hopefully if more people get involved early on we can make 2006 the best year ever.

righto off for a brew....

p.s. i dreamt i was drunk last night!!

lol I'd completely forgotten about the piles conversation :) classy topic for 11pm.

I agree with a lot of the comments on here about the venue but i can't quite put my finger on the problem, I do think that the space ahd a lot to do with it, at billing you were never more than a couple of metres away from something a bit special but walking around the showground it felt like a bit more of a hunt than a browse. There were some large patches of open space even on the Saturday afternoon when it was busy. As for the trading area...... it wasn't a patch on the last couple of years, the layout was crap and the stalls were way below par.

As for the imoc stand, I think a lot of the reasons for not meeting people come down to the amount of time you spend on the stand, we were as guilty as anyone for that but it just seemed that there wasn't enough time. When we were actally on the stand though (Saturday morning for a bit, Saturday afternoon for a bit and Sunday morning) we did talk to a couple of people. I'm crap with names so I've forgotten who already, but I was the guy with the can of fosters on the go when we were parking up Saturday morning.

We did get an invite across to the bbq on the Saturday night and were planning on going, by the time we'd watched the flame off (The MK1 was robbed) and had another look round though, we sort of just collapsed near our tent and cooked what food we had left.

We all still had a great time though, we'd have liked to get a bit more involved with the bbq but I think (personally) I felt a bit cheeky for want of a better word because we hadn't really brought enough food and beer to sort of come across for a party, we'd have almost been turning up empty handed and there were 7 of us lol. Anyway, nice to meet the guys that we did and lets hope the sort the venue / show layout out for next year.

p.s sorry for warbling on but I got carried away :)

Cheers

Oh yes, you met me, you had a can of Fosters open at 9.10am on the Saturday morning right! LOL

You should've come over mate, we threw food away...not to worry.

One of the things I do agree about is the space, there was acres of it, and it was hard to go up to talk to people you didn't know. But I think with a few improvements we can outdo ourselves next year :)

Was nice to see some of you at JAE this weekend, you had a great selection of cars on your stand, sorry i couldn't stop and introduce myself to more of you but i was busy on the DC stand and judging the Show and Shine.

Once again we only had a small turnout but enjoyed ourselves non the less and managed to camp at the back of our stand too.

As a first attempt at this venue i think it wasnt too bad but a lot of room for improvement. Having a show and shine on a dirt track was not a good idea for example.

I will watch the posts on here and the JAE forum with interest and will no doubt speak with the organisors to make it better next year.

It was my first time at JAE and i really enjoyed it. Was good to meet a few people and there were some amazing cars on display.

I somehow got roped into playing footie and managed to miss an absolute sitter after someone crossed the ball to me, i had loads of space and managed to totally miss the ball  I guess having a few stella's before the game isn't the best for coordination!!

Didn't stay too long sunday as i wanted to get home in time to watch the MotoGP

Yep that was right, sadly I've not got one now almost exactly 48hours later and I'm in work :(

Like you say, I don't think it will take a lot to make it a good venue just close everyone together a bit more, it makes the whole place a lot more inviting. If the fairground would have been there it would have taken a lot more space and maybe given a bit more atmosphere to the night with the lights and noise.

I thought the 10:30 noise curfew was a bit daft though.

Did anyone hear about the banners that were vandalised (I think it was the skyline owners but I'm not sure)

Cheers

Glad you enjoyed it Malcolm.

have to say you were an absolute star all weekend and your help with everything tea related as well as all the other stuff you did was very much appreciated by all of us.

The football was a hoot, have you seen this?

I think there is no doubt that you have the catering services wrapped up for next year! ;)

Yeah it was the Supra club, someone was trying to cut it down apparently!

In the IMOC/MK1 section there was a lot happening too. A chair got nicked, a sleeping bag, a BBQ and Speedy's mobile. Someone obviously thought they needed to kit themselves out for the weekend.

Also there was a very unpleasant incident on the Sat. night with an MR2 MK2 (not from IMOC thankfully) doing donuts drunk and nearly crashing into a tent. It's a shame...

Thats ridiculous, I heard that there were some things nicked from the camping area on the Friday night as well, things like food an beer.

Its well out of order. Its the first year I've heard of anything like this happening, maybe again because people's tents and cars were seperated by so much.

One of the Mk1OC guys had his entire coolbox stolen from outside his tent on the Friday night, IIRC.. I think it's the same guy who shouted at the morons right behind our (the ROC) tents when he was still playing hardcore porn at full blast at 2.30am.. (There was an MR2 with that lot too, I think, but not IMOC)

FWIW btw, I thought the IMOC stand looked quite good - not that I actually hopped over the fence to look at it.. In fact, I didn't see anything but Roadsters all weekend  How useless am I?

And how come you lot weren't in the tug-o-war eh? ;)

We (MR2-ROC) had our two rising sun flags nicked from the pitch on Saturday night, the fact that they aren't worth much isn't the point although that was the only trouble we had to my knowledge. It really is poor that other club members do this. I'd have loved to have caught them

I heard the annoucement over the PA, but I was in the middle of attempting to take the tent down before the rain started, and I only just finished in time. Sorry about that one!

We were packing up at 3, so you would have seen a bunch of mk1s, a roadster and a Disco... and a few very, very wet people :)
