If that thread title isn't going to get some attention, I don't know what will!

Hi guys, I bought a mk1b gearknob the other week, got round to fitting it yesterday

(the car currently sports a Momo item that isn't really to my liking, and I want to put the car back to as close to standard as possible), once I'd removed the Momo knob, I found that the thread on the shifter wasn't long enough to make contact with the thread on the original Toyota gearknob!

Were there any differences between mk1a and mk1b gearknobs? Or is it more likely that my car has had a quickshift kit of some variety fitted in the past? If it's the latter, I'm not particularly impressed, it doesn't seem to have shortened the throw at all!
