Is this cheap for a rev 3 turbo?

Post by sam1176uk »

Was going to look at this but i've always had NA's so don't know much about turbos, apart from the fact he's exaggerating the bhp figures lol.
Any thoughts?

^^^^^ That is CHEAP for a rev3

The one you found is not a bad price, but if it needs work then it wont be. I'd question the 280hp power too. I have seen a lot of adverts with the 280hp power figure stated but without dyno sheet, I wouldnt take his word for it. I'd like to of seen a bit more info in his ad too.

Its got a UK rear bumper, so check the colour match and look out for rear end damage.

Also, why do people put that its "not for the faint hearted"???

I have spoken to the guy selling and it is standard apart from the air filter and exhaust, so just seems like he doesnt know what power they produce.

I've had 5 NA's but this will be my first turbo, anything in particular i should be looking for? It has full service history.

If you can take a local club member with you it would be very handy, as they will know what questions to ask and where to look.

If you've never driven a turbo then you will be sooooo suprised how fast these are over a N/A that you may miss faults that this may have.

£2100 is cheap for a rev3 turbo tho, you just have to find out why it is and buy with your head, not your heart.

You should try and get to see a few of them to compare.

280bhp isn't unheard of from a rev3 with breathing mods. Mine isn't heavily modified and it hit 284 with no boost increase.

I would question a rev3 that cheap though... the rear bumper is a good shout. I'd be pulling the carpet up in the boot!
