brake calliper trouble

can any-one help me with refurbing my callipers??? or know where i can get them done at a reasonable price?? its a rev 3 dont know if that matters.

its actually more hassle and nearly as much money to get the seal kit (and a real pain with the seals) as it is to get a refurbed caliper from the likes of camskill or sbits

Yeah I found that out lol I thought it would be pretty straight forward after buying the repair kits. Il have a look on there tho thanx.

i've just fully rebuilt the rear calipers from a rev3 to fit on the rear of my mk1. I had to get some 90deg long nose circlip pliers (£25) after spending hours trying to refit the circlip (under the piston) to retain the handbrake mechanism.

At least now they're working perfectly and look great after the full derusting treatment via hydrolysis. I'd have to agree though - replace the rears with recon especially as it took me sooooo many hours to do.

can only re-iterate what the other guys have said.
I have recently refurbed all 4 calipers on a rev3 using the seal kits from TCB parts and the cost came in at the same price as their ready refurbished calipers after taking into account all the other little bits like winding tools and bleed nipples etc...

Took bloody ages too! Thoroughly enjoying that kind of stuff though so didn't mind it...

Not sure if rev 3 calipers are the same as rev 2, but ive got a caliper re furb kit ( all rubbers, clips etc ) for the rears, bought but didnt need in the end, £20 posted. Camskill are charging £25 for just 1 caliper, this kit does both rears.

I've found a salvage yard which said sum1 has smashed one up. And two of the callipers are brand new. If it's the fronts il look into the callipers being the same and get back to you on the repair kit jimmy. Thnx. Yeah I've heard all the tools are quite expensive n I too would normally enjoy doing something like that but my car has been off the road for 6 months now due to the brakes needing doing and my bank account not being able to fund it lol I just wanna get it done and drive it now.
