Picking up new motor, few Q's

Post by MR-Deuce »

Hey everyone

Put my deposit down on an Deuce-Tubby this weekend and will be picking up next week - woot!

I've asked him to look at a couple of things before I take delivery. One of them was that I found the throttle pedal to be sticking. It was only at the lowest range of movement, so if I came to a stop and needed to pull away again, sometimes it'd need a bit of a prod to free it. I did a quick search but couldn't see anything similar - anyone know what it may be?

The motors got a HKS BOV (SSQV I think) - that's VTA at the moment. It's a bit loud for me and i'd like to quiet it down. There's an adjuster on the end of it, is that for sound, or does that change the pressure it vents at?

Also - thinking about changing the stock zorst, but I only want something similar in size to the stock tips, that isn't loud as hell. Basically after a bit more noise for character, that flows well for more power and hopefully doesn't drone. Anyone got recommendations?

Don't worry about the throttle pedal it will be an easy fix.

Keep the SSQ or put on a standard recirc valve. You can always sell it.

As for the exhaust, I have a fujitsubo legalis R. Looks like the stock exhaust but chunky and sounds very nice. I think there is one for sale on ebay at the minute by GTS chris

Like this one, although you may not get it as cheap.

Yeah, im not worried about it - just more curious if it's a fairly common problem :)

Tempted to get a stock recirc, but don't want the goose honk, so may look to see if you can get recirc kits for the SSQ

Looks like Chris's is slightly different?:

Looks good size-wise tho

Legalis R sounds like it will fit the bill - they have slightly larger exits than stock but the silencer and exits are basically in the same places and they're a similar design as you can see from the eBay pictures. They are a little deeper than stock at low revs and a little louder once you come on boost (especially with a decat), I like mine :thumleft:

You can get a recirc adaptor for the SSQV but unless you've still got the stock resonator box etc then you may still get goose honk. You can change the fin in the SSQV but that changes the pitch of the noise rather than the volume. The screw in the end won't change the volume :)

Don't think the throttle thing is a common problem but it can only be a few things - lubrication of the pedal mechanism itself, sticky cable or sticky throttle butterfly.

Good man - thanks for the input. Legalis R sounds perfect for me then, i'll keep my eye out for one

Like Dazzz said, there's another fuji zorst, but it's not the Legalis - anyone know if they're the same or different noise etc?

Been itching to play with the motor, but I don't take delivery 'til next week #-o
