White 1997 UK Rev4 GT T-Bar, Ohlin, TOM'S, Remus, GAB, AVS

Post by CardHore »

Hi guys...

I want to add that there is the original handbook with this along with lots of service history by Toyota. It has the standard Cat remote central locking, alarm and immobiliser as well.

It brings me great pleasure to present you my partner's beautiful daily driver.

This is a 1997 Rev4 MR2 GT-i T-Bar, presented in 040 white. Purchased by my misses last year in March off a mature lady owner, purchased in completely standard form with a folder containing lots of history. This car has been her daily drive and she has covered over 13k miles and the car has NOT MISSED ONE BEAT. This car was driven a total of 3,000 miles to the bottom of South of France last may, around there and back again in the course of 1 week. It never whinged once.... and a year on it still hasn't.

Naturally with the misses being a bit of a petrol head and what with both our love for MR2's (we have owned 6 in total), this car couldn't be left standard for very long. Throughout her ownership of the car it now sports a roaring ultra rare TOM'S Dual stage induction kit, a german made full S/S Remus exhaust system with complimentary De-Cat (The filter and exhaust combined produced the most beautiful sound, almost V6 like).

Image

The car sits on rare AVS ADVAN VS-6 Wheels and 1000 mile old FALKEN 512 Tyres. 205/45/16 up front and 235/50/16 on the rear. Wheels are a staggered fitment of 7J and 8J and still hold the original pearlescent white paintwork. I have added a touch to the outer lip by painting them red and had the wheel nuts sprayed red as well. This gives a nice match to the well painted calipers.

Suspension wise... Kind of a strange combination but it works so well... The fronts have black Bilstein dampers with stock turbo springs, the rears consist of the real McCoy MINE'S Tuned OHLIN damper adjustable shocks but also on standard springs. These shocks however provide a slightly lower ride height the standard springs. This setup results in a much firmer rear end while the all rare GAB adjustable strut braces are installed front and rear to provide a well sure footed car. This car is so predictable on handling and steers beautifully into any corner with a low roll amount.

On with the brakes... Last year we purchased and installed Drilled and Grooved disks, MINTEX pads were installed all round at the same time, these brakes have been wonderful, after 12k miles they have provided such minimum lippage. The calipers have had fresh paint on them 2 times throughout ownership. ABS braking is featured all round as well.

Image

Meticulously maintained by myself. This car has had over 5 oil and filter changes and in just over a year using 10/40 Castrol Magnatec and a few uses of SLICK 50... <-- That stuff rocks, new plugs installed last year and washed and Meguiars 3 Stage polished nearly every week and liquid claybarred every month or 2. Thats the constant care its had by myself and her. I am a very keen car valeter, so having a white car in the relationship gives me ultimate cleaning satisfaction.

The bodywork as you can see is almost immaculate. There is NOT ONE DENT on any panel! There are a few small light scratches that cant even be seen unless you look close. One on the top of the front bumper is most apparent but when filled in with chipstick or once touched up (ive never touched it up) it looks fine. The rest are vey light, located under the passenger door handle and... ummm... some little chips on one of the rub strips.

However we did purchase the car with the following small issues below, very light and few heavy on the rear corner, we always intended to get it sprayed but felt there is no need. I've yet to re-touch it up with chipstick (that stuff lasts ages) and it cant be seen from even a few feet away. Theres little scabbing on the passenger arch corner, it never got any worse during ownsership so its worth leaving it unless your a perfectionist. Then you have the very end of the sills, very light surface rust. I know its a real crime but for everything else we have done to the car, we never got round to lightly sanding the surface rust off and just painting over it... Sorted, man I should really do it!

Interior features leather like all UK cars, this leather for the age and mileage isn't bad at all. One small tear thats never got any worse on the driver's bolster and the usual creasing but otherwise real good. The rest of the interior is pretty faultless, this car features the never 4 spoke steering wheel and airbag which is a potential life saver. Ive neatly added a set of Rhon's leather gear and handbrake gaiters, they look awesome, especially with £60 worth of MOMO aluminium and leather handbrake handle! The console features an IPOD, USN and AUX ready Sony head unit. The side speakers have been upgraded to SONY 10cm items and up front feature the FLY made speakers. The T-Bar seals are in pretty good shape, they dont leak unless you get a hardcore downpour or get a hose to it but even then you only get a very slight drop or 2. The glass work in and out is treated with Rain-X at every wash and the leather is treated with SIMONIZ creme and the vinyl treated with Turtklewax ICE. (please excuse little 'John Mouse' seated there in his recaro seat)

Mechanically the car is faultless... It starts first time on the coldest of mornings and the engine doesn't make even 1 tapping sound, the cold start inj kicks in well and the suction from the filter is great. This engine has got at least another 100k miles left in it, the amount of maintenance gone into this car is outstanding, you need to hear and drive this car to be in disbelief that it reads 107,500 on the clock. It drives like its only done 60k.

All joints and bearings are as tight as mouses ear'oles. 2 hubs were removed and replaced with those from a low mileage Rev5 Import car as they were showing slight play. All bearing are free rolling and tight.

All calipers are free from sticking and one side has had replacement calipers from a Rev2 turbo whilst the other side calipers were removed, re greased and working spot on, this car will roll forever from a slingshot 1st gear pull away!

4 wheel alignment has been carried out by Autotec summer last year, no problems since. The steering wheel and tracking is good as gold, all joints have been greased up etc for ease of any future removing/adjusting.

The gearbox is super smooth as well, no crunches, grinding, notching or any popping out. Its as good as can be. There is paper work for a new clutch that was installed not long before we bought the car and still naturally has plenty of life left. Brake fluid was changed as well last year.

Here's the best bit. THE HOSE FROM HELL HAS BEEN SORTED!!

Yes, the only major problem we had with this car was shortly after we bought it, a leak was dripping from the tank, wasnt petrol it was water... Got it checked and found it was to be the water pipe that goes over the tank was leaking at its fixing bracket. The corroded pipe was cut off and a rubber tube was securley fitted in its place. Never been a problem since, better not either cos it cost us £200 to sort it!

Underneath you wont see one wet patch, this car doesn't drop any oil, water or any related fluid. The one hub you see pictured is the same for the rest of the corners, note the OHLIN's blue adjustable dampening knob :).

NEW WINDSCREEN and seals FITTED by Autoglass this year as the old one developed a random crack?!

This car is Taxed until Oct and MoT due March 2011
Mileage currenbtly shows around 107,500 mark. Don't even think about the mileage, you gotta see it and drive it to feel its still only a 60k car :D
Cambelt next due 120,000 miles, I think it was last done at 64k

I feel its been priced up fairly given the amount of love, rare wheels and new tyres, exhaust, induction kiit and long term fix maintenance costs given to this car. We have BOTH put into this car, considering its hers and she does put her heart into it, I cant help but to help her achieve rolling round in a swish motor, its good for my reputation

She happy to knock a few hundred quid off if someone came down with their own wheels and tyres as i'd happily keep these for my turbo or sell them on :thumleft:

Reason for sale is because she's after a Turbo MR2, something Rev3 or a real nice Rev2, failing that she has a keen eye for a Celica GT4. Any P/X swap offers are welcome!

Please do not hesitate to call, e-mail or text either myself or my misses. Although more technical questions should be passed to me :thumleft:

£2795 neg

Any feedback on the car and pricing will be appreciated.

Thanks for reading!

Aw cheers foxy for that, took me ages but a car like that deserves it, she really hopes it will go to someone who will really look after it. Shes really after a turbo mr2, dont get me wrong though this n/a performs so well! If someone had there own wheels to bring along and fit then 400 quid will be knocked off! Cheers

He he, thats real nice input fella. Its worth just having a look fella even if you are torn. Would be nice if you had a look just to see what input we get from it from a potential buyers point of view. We live in stone but can hook up with you in bluewater or at your home if you like fella. See what you think and make a decent offer. I got serious interest from someone outside the club. Please text or call one of us to arrange a viewing. Hope to hear from you soon :)

Absolutely well spotted fella.... Here's the valid excuse, the filter yes is rusty, reason being is that it had an oil change around 500 miles ago and I couldn't find where I put the spare Champion oil filter upon dumping the old oil. So I had to miss it out and the next week I found the oil filter so when I change the oil again before it sells i'll install the new filter. My fault putting '5 oil and filter changes', more like '5 oil changes and 4 filter changes' :cyclops: lol.

The last oil change as said was pretty recent and I got a habit of making a mess doing it so its either a damp oil patch still sitting from the last change or its water from where I washed the car shortly before taking the pictures. :thumleft:. Ive never given the sump or related areas a clean so its probably built up over time. Rest assured im also certain there is no leaks.

Thanks :)

Hope this helps

SOLD!!!

Thanks for all the interest people.

I had a call from a guy who viewed the car on EBAY, turns out he was half a mile away, he was the FIRST CALLER, the FIRST VIEWER, fell in love after a nice long test drive and wanted it.

It was agreed that I would revert the car to standard form ie. Fitted AVS wheels removed, REMUS exhaust removed, GAB strut braces removed, TOMs induction removed and re-fitted all standard parts (he's an old boy)

£2550!!! RESULT, had to be seen to be appreciated!

Now were after a clean N/A ST202
