my bomex is around the same depth as border and yup i generally scrape across speed bumps if taken at anything above a crawl.

i measured my floor to bottom of the front valance, and had 74mm clearance, yes its lowered but not drastic and running 16" wheels on 50 profile tires

My border front bumper is actually quite good with humps at my current ride height (which is quite low), its a million times better than that bloody veilside bumper i used to have on there.

However what worries me most is the border side skirts as they are very low, i currently have veilside skirts on mine which aren't as low yet they scrape on some humps, even when the front bumper doesn't. this his made me re-think whether i should fit the border skirts on mine.

I just avoid them or use a different car if Im going any where with humps.

I have zero chance or getting over them, I cant even get down / up some steep hills with out it scraping its so low.

Even if I could get over my Phoenix Power side skirts would get destroyed :(

Plus considering that Bumper costs over £800 new and the Side Skirts cost over £1000 new I dont even want to risk it :P

I've caught my TOMs skirts on a few bumps in the past, they get really quite low at the rear wheel! While I do catch the Border bumper on speedbumps it's made of really thick fibreglass and it's never cracked, just has a few paint scrapes on the underside which you can't see. I did knacker it parking up on a grassy area in a country park though, didn't see a massive bump in the ground #-o

Bomex is lower than Border by a fair chunk... I used to catch my Bomex front bumper on everything going, but the Border doesn't touch much.

My Border bumper sits around 10cm of off the ground. the skirts are even lower, The bumper & spats i got from a compy called Import Body Kits which on the whole have not been to bad to fit, the spats where pretty much perfect when i offered them up yesterday, the bumper which is on, took quite alot of filling/fiber glassing. But the skirts which i bought off of a private seller on ebay are dreadful! One skirt sticks out about 1.5 cm further than the other, especially at the rear, and the lip on them was really warped so i had to cut it off to even get them on the car, however im going to get my moneys worth by leaving them on for six months as a sort of dress rehersal* for the speed bumps/pot holes etc, if they catch too much it wont matter as im planning on replacing them with better fitting ones ( ive heard replikit are ok ) at which point , ill be sure to fit them higher next time.

Went to get into the workshop today which has a little slope nothing major, VX220's, Porsche 911's, Ferraris, Lotus's etc have all made it into here and what happens, CCCCCCCRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTCCCCCCCHHHHHHHHH.... Bumper wacks the slope leaving 2 white marks 12" long by 2" wide!!! Reverse out slowly with another CCRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRCCCCCCCHHHHHH as it scrapes back out.

I can get over most speed humps, but generally take the main car it there is no good reason to take the MR2.

Border bumper and sides.

Temporarily had a set of Replikit Border skirts fitted and couldn't get out the drive as they were too low, so fitted a set of Rogue Tom's skirts instead

lol! Horrible feeling hearing that chewy scraping sound.. My Veilside front splitter needs attention already after driving into the local shell garage which has a slight slope on entry...

I don't have Borders but I have (or had) a Charger splitter, and I think I've pretty much destroyed it and that was only going up driveways and down driveways, and it's a horible noise / feeling knowing that you caused the damage going up, so you have to do it again going down. Real pain in the khyber imho!! :(

My rev 6 front is effectively a border front on the lower half and I have quite deep side skirts fitted also. I have to be very careful over any speed bumps -If I see stupid sleeping policemen it's either a choice of reversing out and going down a different street or manafing to crawl over them with one side flat and the other on a 2/3rds profile. It's do-able but genrally I find people for some reason behind me seem to get pi$$ed off like I treat them with the respect that speed bumps are supposed to be there for rather than my friends who just batter over them and hit the underside of their car each time.

(I'm on -25mm drop on my coil vers but the front bumper and skirts really don't stick much lower than normal stuff 5-10mm lower than the chassis maybe)
