Guildford Midnight Run 5 - probably the best meet... in the world!

Post by Tiamat »

Yes ladies and gentlemen, its time to dust off the car, polish up those lights, lose the sunglasses and head out into the night for the Guildford Run.

Event Day: Friday 25th June 2010.

Usual plan, meet around 11:15 - 12:00 and at midnight set off for a run (in the cars unless you're fat like me and want to lose weight).

THERE WILL BE A NEW ROUTE FOR THIS ONE!

Usually return to our start place at about 3am.

Names down in the usual manner please and I will update this post shortly once the route is planned and checked.

1. Tiamat

Meeting place for the Midnight Run: Bramley Village Library just south of Guildford on the A281. Post code is GU5 0HG.

Arrival time is 11:15 onwards to leave at 12:00.

We have loud stereos and exhausts, there has never been any trouble with using this venue, however in the interests of being pleasant and congenial to the village, please keep all noise to a minimum.

Anyone revving exhausts or having loud music will be asked to stop or to leave, you endanger our ability to do the run if you do this. Having a loud exhaust is acceptable, otherwise I'd have to ban myself, its acting responsible that we are after

Update:

For those who have never been before, or have been but not the full length: there is no allocated fuel stop along the planned route, it is recommended that you start with a full tank, or as close to it as possible. There are petrol stations in Guildford, Broadbridge Heath, on the A281 and there is a BP garage in Bramley, but I cannot tell you who will be open that night or not.

Remember bring coffee, smokes, red bull / whatever you need for the night. Oh and a coat, it can get cold and we do have a couple of breather stops.

Take the Smurf  or passenger with me if the MR2 isn't running yet :thumleft:
I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.

Sounds Interesting... If I can get power back to my cigarrette lighter and therefore be able to use my sat nav (essential really) then I'd be up for this :D

Have you ever had any trouble from the BiB? (never taken part in a night hoon) :)

You won't need the Sat Nav, its a convoy, you will not be left behind. Usually trick is to have LimeyMK1 lead and I follow at the back to collect any stragglers / people with problems.

Apart from finding the start venue, you will not need sat nav.

Never had any problem from the BiB, even when they came into the middle of our break stop, had a bried chat and they were fine. This is why when stopped, we ask for engines off ASAP, no revving exhaust and no loud stereos. Its enthusiasts out for a drive not a chave cruise, innit!

Best thing to do, is come along, you'll be made to feel welcome and I am sure that someone local will meet you somewhere suitable and help you find the start if necessary.

Well the new route was excellent, some proper twisty roads, it worked really well. Even if I did get a little lost, but managed to recover it without anyone noticing.

Very disappointed in the turn out, I may not bother doing another one, as there was only three of us. Yes THREE.

Thanks to those who came along, twas a good blast.
