Lovely drive the other day

Post by Nelly »

I recently got my '2 back on the road after driving a beat up diesel rover for a while, and I'm really loving it :)

Had a lovely trip to stafford and back on the A34 the other day. First off a minor blemish. Was heading onto a dual carridgeway roundabout in the r/h lane... new black Golf GTTD in left hand land starts to drift accross into my lane as I'm coming level. Quick beep to let him know I was there, and he doesnt move back but glues himself to my ar$e after I'm past. This continues all the way around the quite large roundabout and I'm sorry to say my childish side got the better of me and when the time came to sweep left uphill to exit I was at 4000rpm, foot on the floor in 3rd. I look back and he's about 15m back now, but rather worryingly isnt dropping back that fast. :( I pull very slowly away 'till the crest of the hill when we catch up with traffic. We both take it easy through the traffic and built up area but hes very definatley not leaving my ar$e alone and doesn't pass me even though I gave him a few chances - I'm thinking is he gonne road rage me or what?? but after another mile or so he bolts off down a random sidestreet and I didnt see him again. Odd.

Then on the way back up from Stafford I had a nice friendly blatt with an IDENTICAL car to mine... looked like he was in the middle of some paintwork on the left hand side, anyone here?

God damn it was a nice drive though. I spent most of the weekend working on my car and it was feeling damn nice with fresh KYB adjustables on it. The sun was shining, windows down, when my engine wasnt yowling in my ears his was - does it get any better?? I can't see how :)

Anyway, stay safe peeps!

Its all good mate. GTTD's aint all that slow but he sounds like a total jocky.

As for getting back into the 2 after driving something else, nothing beats that feeling when u've been driving a beat up rover 414 for a year!!

I didnt feel that bad at first cause mine's a 1990 and I thought those new golfs were about 150hp, but I just checked parkers and they're only 138  Maybe its time for a fresh set of plugs and a timing check...
