Just bought a turbo off ebay no MOT and no tax

Post by stormshadow »

I can't seem to buy a MR2 without needing a load of good luck :D

My first MR2 (N/A) I got for nothing as the owner had an expensive private plate on it. I agreed to get it back on road so he could get the plate off (needs MOT and tax I believe before you can get the plate on retention).

Anyhoo it had stood for a few years:

Spent about £600 including tax and insurance to get it back on road:

Sold it to a mate who then spent some serious money on it (new suspension all round inc coilovers, exhaust and induction brakes & strut braces)

as it is today:

So what pile of junk did I end up with on ebay you say?

Well it is a mint Rev1 Turbo, went through MOT after just replacing the two front tyres as they had some cracking.

Just done the air filter, oil, oilfilter distributer cap/rotor arm and plugs. Brake fluid and coolant change next week..

Sorry for the poor pictures (camera phone). The paintwork is non factory white with blue pearl effect. Has a blue edge to it in sunlight.

I don't mind you asking - bit embarrassed but I paid the grand old sum of £1020

As on my other thread it is paint code 047 Which is Crystal II topcoat. Very rare (and a pig to match any paint up if I need to!)

Thanks dude, only external changes will be wheels and a buff up of the special paintwork.

Will keep stock internals with a bit of extra boost to make it fly

:D

:thumleft:

Possibly remove the red tint off the reverse lens, reinstate the reverse light and re-route fog light wiring to inner lights? :-k

Plans sound good, keeping it original :thumleft:

I was wondering how to sort the fog light out. MOT man put red tape over it so it would pass :D
