[Mk2] [NA] Fitting New Head Unit

Post by sw20 »

Hi All,

My Rev 2 N/A (Import) Still has the original cassete player fitted, And i cant take much more of "Now Dance 96" ](*,)

I fancie fitting a Double Din JVC KW-XG701 as per link below.

http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/kwxg701- ... -8431.html

Will i just need a JVC to Toyota link cable and thats the job done?....

I have heard something about the imports having AMPS and need hard wired to the new head unit? Is this correct? as i have been quoted £50 Fitting charge to have this done?

Sorry im a novice when it comes to ICE.

Any advise is much welcome..

Cheers Craig.... :thumleft:

Mines got the amps, and I used a converter harness similar to this:-

It can be correct, but some imports like mine just have the standard stereo.

Things to look for are:

2 feint black lines running vertically in the middle of the windscreen
grills on the cubby boxes behind the seats on one or both sides

If you have those then you will need a different adaptor cable and your stereo will have to have RCA preouts.
