Cat for MOT?

Post by TheBaker »

I'm wondering if I'm going to need a cat(I've got a decat on now obviously) to get my car through it's MOT, it's a late 92 UK Rev 2 NA.

Even if I do, is it possible to find a lenient MOT place or is something I definetely wouldn't get away with?

Cheers.

I thought it didn't apply to pre 95 cars. Although i guess they could say something if all your other MOT's had a cat. Not entirely sure though.

That rule apply's to tubbys and other models not sold in the UK. Its not a CAT test it is an emissions test. they can't fail your car for not having a CAT fitted as long as it passes the emissions test. Chances are it wont though. Find a friendly garage.

so in summary, you dont have to install one, but if you dont you may struggle to meet the stricter emissions targets placed on UK cars.
