Having seen mk1 after mk1 having immaculate engine bays and covers ect... Any tips on to get it the engine and bay looking mint ?

Theres only a few tiny bits that need attention bodywork wise.. the rest is fine .

Elbow grease. And lots of it. I got the engine bay on my old tubby looking pretty darned respectable, but it takes a fair amount of time and patience. The results are always rewarding though. Have you ever tried metal polishing before?

*edit* Completely forgot to ask what you were trying to achieve exactly! Are you looking to return the engine bay to its former glory, or to bling it up a little?

I haven't got any pics sadly. It did however catch the eye of a Fast Car photographer and made it into the mag at a car show shoot many moons ago.

Mainly it depends on the finish you're expecting to achieve, if you're trying to bring alloy components up to it's former glory then it can be a pain, depending on how oxidized they are to start with. Polishing to a mirror finish is quite enjoyable, but time consuming on cast parts. I've always achieved decent results with Autosol - available from Halfrauds in a little black and gold tube.

Sadly there's no real quick fixes, and sometimes the only way to remove dirt and grime from those annoying nooks and crannies is to remove the part and bathe them in detergents.

that's fine, but I warn you it's not looking pretty at the moment, with no front wings and hen you see the holes in the floor you'll probs be glad you passed it onto me, and I'm glad you did :D

Anyway I'll try and egt some by monday (I plan on spending Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon working on the car now I have a generator so I have power I should be able to prep most of the surfaces)

Enjoy the MR2 that you can actually drive, I've still yet to drive one except this one in and out of the garage to work on it
