Mogoose exhaust on track?!!?

Post by sms14 »

Im sure ive read that mongoose exhausts on turbo's are quite enough for most tracks, but the last thing i want is too get there and it be too loud!

Its castle coombe ill be going to.

If anybody can confirm that they are ok for track it would be a big weight of my mind :)

Sam.

The Mongoose exhaust on my MR2 Turbo race car measured 92dBa static at Brands Hatch this weekend.

Didn't I mention that? It was replaced custom-built titanium unit coming in at 400 grammes...

Or back in the real world, the system pretty much follows standard route but is single exit. A de-cat pipe is followed by a sweep through 180 degrees through 2 x "in-series" 300mm mounted a la Mongoose with a single exit on the driver's side. The boxes are tucked up closer to the boot floor and are only just visible. All is stainless and the boxes are Powerflow. I have been told that Powerflow is effectively a franchise so the system is really only as good as the guys who put it together. I can put you (anyone) in touch with the excellent place in Worcester that did mine - I'd just be grateful if you would let them know you came recommended by me.

I do fancy getting them to do an even better system at some point so the current one may become available! PM me if you'd consider buying another used exhaust system off this man ;-)

Brands static noise test was 96db at 5000rpm (only needed to be doing 4750)
Weight of the main silencer section is approx 50% of the undoubtedly beautiful looking Mongoose. May even have been less.

Cheers JOHN #77 (n/a 750 mc Championship car)
