[Mk2] [NA] Srange window problem

Post by blue2 »

My car has been off the road for 6ish weeks whilst I replaced the radiator. The battery was totally flat so I jump started it from my mates car.
All was well until I pressed the window buttons. Normally when I push either one right down, the window will go up or down without stopping. Now when I do this the window goes up (or down) a few inches then stops and I have to press it again. Could this be something to do with the battery, not sure as its now fully charged. :?

The short answer is, I don't know, but on another car after replacing the battery the one touch windows wouldn't work and the garage told me to close the window and keep my finger on the closed position for about 10/20 seconds which resets things! well it worked. You may want to try this in the closed position - can't do any harm - good luck

Yours being a UK car, never had an auto-up feature, only auto-down.
And it was only on the drivers window.

Has it been modified?

Nope Johnny mine definatly used to go up and down automatically on the drivers side, down automatically on the passenger side and up manually on the passenger side.
Nope as as far as I know its not been modified. I tried the 10 second reset but it didnt work. Could it be one of the relays malfunctioning. I can here it making a clicking noise once when I push the button and once a second later when the window stops moving. Its a bit baffling as to whats caused it. :?

Did you ever find the fix for this? I have exactly the same issue on my import mk2.

Window goes up and down an inch at a time. Ever since I disconnected the battery today. Only the drivers side, passenger is fine. And I have tried the 20 second trick as mentioned above but no joy :(

Thanks

Dan
