[Mk2] [Generic] MR2 T-Bar cover.

Post by Paul Curtis »

Does anyone know if it is possible to obtain a "canvas" cover for the T-bar roof, Instead of putting the glass back every time I park, it would be practable to have someting like a tonneau cover that just slid into place, and could roll up when not in use.

Nothing that I know or seen or heard of.

I would of thought that placing such a cover in each side wouldn't make any difference in time, as the glass only take a few seconds to fit and would be more secure and watertight that a piece of vinyl.

T-Bar cover.

My reason is not for security just to protect if away from car and starts to rain. I carry the panels in their bags and secure behind seat. You are correct it does not take long to replace, infact I now use one set at home and carry another set when I go out. Unless I sell the panels from a third set I have I may try to have canvas fixed to these inplace of the glass.

I think you have lost me !

You can only use 1 set of t bar glass panels at a time.

When you park up, just refit the panels, when you drive off, you can always leave them in or take them out and secure behind seats.

It can be pain to keep taking them off and securing them behind both seats, so i ended up siting them in the boot if i was in a hurry, wrapped up of course!

T-bar cover.

Sorry for the confusion I am causing. I have for some reason collected 3 sets of glasses.

I have one set in the car,in bags behind the seats. I use one set to close the roof at home and this weather remove these and leave in garage.

When I park, rather than fit the glasses I carry with me I am looking for a tourneu type cover. This is the product I am looking for and have seen them on Lotus cars.

Thank you for your comments though.

Eh? The times I have my glass out it takes me less than a minute each side to re-fit the panels so not sure what saving you'ure making there. Plus glass is more secure than a soft cover any day -you can't just stick a stanley knife through it. I guess you could get what you want custom made (don't want to hammer someone for a different idea) -but don't really see the point personally.

EDIT -have you not got any alarm fitted? my biggest worry leaving the car with the roof off has to be bird xxxx. The stock alarm stops someone with the T-Bars off as do allot of others. You're beinga tad obsessive re glass panels!!!!!
