So, work is manic and I need two new bathrooms! so the time has come to, reluctantly, put my Mr T up for sale

I was going to turn it into my first track car but needs must.

.

.

.I've put a lot of info below.

.

.

.so heres a short summary.

.

.

.

.

The short:
In short she's a good car that runs brilliantly, and returns great MPG.

It comes with a lightweight flywheel, new springs and dampers, braided hoses and good pads ready to be fitted.

She needs a little work

(but hasn't got any arch or wing rust), but what 20 year old car doesn't!

I'm also pretty sure she needs a new coolant cap

(not the reservoir cap!)

The long:
Here's some info about the car, and some pics

(taken by the guy I bought the car off) are attached:

It is a G-reg 1989

( think it was actually registered in January 1990) Super Red Mk.1B MR2 with a Sunroof

(and the sunroof cover!).

It has about 145k miles on the clock and lots of paperwork/history.

I have owned it since March and have driven it almost everyday up until about September when I got my new car.

I've had a lot of fun in it and the plan was that I'd lay it up over Winter, do some work to it and then use it again occasionally from Spring.

It's got about 5 Months of Tax left on it.

It drives well

(and straight!)

- there's no knocking or funny noises!

The engine is strong, picks up well and doesn't use oil or leak.

I changed the oil about 1500 miles ago, and the previous owner changed it pretty religiously every 6k miles or so.

I used good Castrol Magnatec oil.

I've replaced the spark plugs with NGK Platinum plugs and changed the Air Filter at the same time.

I can't get to the oil filter without ramps, but I do have a replacement.

I also have a new fuel filter to go on.

I fancied the idea of a lightweight flywheel to allow the engine to rev a bit easier so I have one of those to go on.

It isn't new but is barely used and looks perfect

(bought it on here recently).

I have recently replaced the clutch slave cylinder and obviously bled the clutch system.

The body panels are in good condition.

These cars are known for rusting rear arches but they have been replaced by a previous owner and the last owner also had the front o/s wing replaced.

There's no Rust on the body panels but the doors and the bonnet have a couple of small dents

- bread and butter work for somebody like Dingmasters.

Again, I haven't had the time to get round to doing this.

The paint isn't chipped in these places and there's no bubbling anywhere on the car.

There's some paint chips and the metal wing mirror mounts need stripping and repainting but it's nothing you wouldn't expect on a 20yr old car

Unfortunately, at some point in the past some long straight scratches were put into the bonnet

I suspect someone with a rotary polisher could polish them out.

I've got a load of trim from a car that was being broken for parts

(again, from here recently), and I was planning on stripping/painting allot of the trim and returning it back to its black original standard

(some bits are starting to go a bit grey!) and replacing a couple of bits that are slightly damaged.

I've also got a spare clear spoiler for the roof.

The small downside to the bodywork is that there is a small leak around the windscreen that requires a bit of attention.

It seems that the windscreen was replaced and they used a rubber seal

(not how Toyota designed this to work!) which has come away from the roof a bit.

I use Vaseline

(!) smeared on the joint and that does the trick

- again it's one of those jobs that was lined up for the Winter!

Overall, the paintwork is in good condition.

The most recent MOT

(March) suggests that the front coils are corroded so I decided that suspension had probably never been changed/refreshed and I bought some new KYB Shocks

(correct numbers for the Mk.1b!) and some Fernsport standard ride height springs for all 4 corners.

I also bought some new Brake pads

(EBC Green Stuff at the front and Mintex Extreme at the back) and Braided Hoses.

Another set of Winter jobs!

It's just had a set of 4 new tyres

(about

£250).

It still has the original alloys, which could do with a bit of a refurb.

That includes the spare alloy with a decent tyre.

The inside is in very good nick.

The seats are from an early Mk.1A, are in good condition and fit really well with the red paintwork.

I have re-fitted the original stereo as the car came with a more modern CD Stereo and the original as a spare, so the newer variant can be put back in easily if necessary.

It could do with some new door handles and surrounds but couldn't find any

(they've gone grey and one of the surrounds is cracked).

They'll be cheap to buy and easy to replace.

The car comes with electric windows and the drivers side needs the cog on the motor replacing as it doesn't raise/lower all that well.

I have two plastic cogs and they don't look too difficult to replace.

The car has remote central locking, alarm, and immobiliser thanks to the security system fitted.

I have the Haynes manual and the Toyota workshop manual

(thats on a CD with some other info).

I think that just about covers it.

In summary, it is a perfectly useable car that is in good nick but represents a small Winter project which will really make this a great car.

I'd planned to look after it, do all those jobs and more besides and drive it, but I have a car that isn't going to break on me, and a massive workload which is not going to allow me to look after the MR2, so it is currently covered up in a farm barn waiting for someone with the time and enthusiasm to look after it!

The ugly bit:

I'd like to get

£1700 for the car, which includes all the parts.

If there are any other questions

(I've probably forgotten something obvious in all of that!

) then please let me know.

I'm in the Chippenham area.

I'll get notifications to replies here and PM's.

Cheers
