That's more like it :thumleft: Remember, no boost increases, 250 is plenty with the rev1/2 paper head gasket! Those wheels probably aren't doing the handling any favours either.

should I be put off by a rev1 though? and maybe hold out for a rev2? or put in a cheeky offer of £1500 and see what happens?

I don't think you should be put off by a rev1 no. They have a reputation for being a little bit twitchier than the later revisions which is why I mentioned the wheels. You're not talking rev3+ money but the gap between them is shrinking as they are all pretty old now.

so the handling is the main diff then? which could be solved with smaller wheels?

IMHO it's not a 'problem' to be 'fixed' as it's intended behaviour. However the larger wheels will have made the handling worse, so you could do something about that. It will have certainly messed up the ride comfort a bit!

The reason it was changed IMHO is because a lot of people were buying the cars when they were released who weren't expecting the characteristics of powerful RWD mid engined cars and ended up putting them in hedges / up trees / inside other cars. The car got a bit of a bad reputation so they changed the handling to be a bit more compliant. If you don't try and drive it like a hot hatch you'll be fine, and that rule goes for all MR2s not just Rev1s / MK2s.
