The Proxy set-up worked in the new year when the US PSN decided to give away Flow for free but region locked the download.

All this "upgrade" does is remove a feature so no rush as no game actually requires 3.21 yet and I'd like to back-up my ballache to set up Linux

DNS/Proxy is no longer working. Sony are really pushing me to consider ditching the console when the games require updates to play - I've got over £300 of Singstar tracks and so forth, which I now won't be able to add to.

Really unimpressed with "GeoHot", and equally unimpressed with Sony.

(GeoHot) Hope he does release a CFW but can't see how it will be untracable to Sony leading to Worldwide intsant bans and they haven't close the "loophole" as you can still update FW via USB which I suspect will be changed very soon also.

(Sony) We can only hope the other article regarding Amazon UK is legit and European "Fat" owners have a claim against the retailers meaning everyone with a fat regardless of wether you use OtherOS or not demand some form of refund then let all the Retailers persue compensasion off Sony.

Sony have already addressed the issue of the retailers, and are refusing to accept liability.

It's a stupid situation. I can see why hacking the iPhone was useful, but the PS3 is purely a dickwaving exercise, and it's cost the users. GeoHot is likely to avoid the PS3 scene entirely, having accomplished his "they said it was unhackable, I hacked it, go me!".

A few reports from stateside about class action lawsuits being brought up against Sony for otherOS removal. Another story is the US Air Force purchased over 2000 PS3's to do research on the Cell processors towards making them into some type of super computer and they're a bit p'd off that the ones that are breaking are coming back refurbished with the latest firmware so they can't run otherOS which is what they actually purchased them for.
