[Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo-to-Dowpipe gasket - where from please?

Post by jwarren2k2 »

Hi all,

Do you know where I can get the gasket that goes between the turbo and downpipe (de-cat-) on a rev3 turbo please?

Like these, but not so expensive if possible:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0381086780

Would a standard toyota one do the trick?

Thanks,

James :thumleft:

Your going with the Ebay one to save £4.80???

Hope you havent bought it as I have an Ebay one like that sitting in the garage and its a load of crap, its falling to bits / seperating and its never been on the car!!!

The genuine Toyota one is Metal, the Ebay one is some kind of metal foil cardboard papery thing.

Considering how big the job is I would have just paid the extra as its not the sort of job you want to do again....

Loudandproud... Not sure if they're different. I think they're the same as the ebay pic looks the same as the one I took off. If they are the same, PM me with a price and I'll make a decision!

Steve-O... The toyota ones are different? The one that I took off is the same as the one in the pic on the ebay link and I didn't have any problems with that before.

I suppose I could try canceling the ebay order.

You get what you pay for. Toyota gaskets last forever. We don't fit "ebay" gaskets in our workshop unless the customer supplies them.

If you click on the following picture, you'll see what the OEM Toyota gasket looks like:

It's a lot more "solid" looking than the fleabay version ;)

That certainly looks more robust!

I've just called Toyota to add it to my ever growing order list!

I think what I'm spending with them this week, it will almost cover the warranty cost of their sticky throttles!
