Amazing it is Finished!! What a drive today! (Better photos)

Post by rolylane »

What seems like an age now my pride and joy was all shiny

Image

Unfortunately I had to take the car off the road in June last year post a dent or two in the rear quarter a little damage to the passenger side wheels. I am hoping this post will result in my pride and joy returning to it formal glory! See pictures below for the worst case.

Image

It has taken me pretty much until now to get all the bits together and find a garage that will do the repair and respray at a reasonable price with a few extras too. Have to say a big thank you to Neil Latham for the help over the last 6 plus months and the free storage for alot of this in the back of his garage.

Now here are the funny photos of what the car looked like just before it got towed into the garage. (Also I have never used an A frame before and I am not sure whether I will again that was a scary experience! :o )

If only it was one colour!

So the difficult body work repairs have begun after over a week of solid work on my part (taking time off work to do it) to sort out the oil leak and get it running very smoothly.

The purpose of this post is to show the running repairs until it is back even better than before, hopefully fully restored. Got my first photo today and shocked the fold has come out so well. As I get more photos I will keep posting them.

Loads of work left to do, so I am keeping my finger crossed for a good result!

The crease was abit further back than the door shut. We had a transplant plane but they had ago at pulling it out first and it came out pretty well. It wasn't perfect, it has taken abit of playing to get it right but it looks good now and alignment is spot on. Is there anything else wrong with the original panel? chosen to keep mine as I have no rust on it.

Its worth getting a body shop to have a look, an independant one like the one I have gone to should give you a pretty honest answer.

There is good news and bad news!

Bad news first, I am not getting the car this weekend (not that bad to be fair)

Good news it will be done for next weekend  ! and I can't get enough of these photos!

Views on those side skirts?

It still has got some messy edges but I definitely think things are coming together very well!

Second to this I have spoke to Chris @ Stoke body shop today and all the plastics have now been removed and have been sprayed!! And the colour is prefect, a nice 576 super bright Yellow. I know the yellow isn't everyones cup of tea but I am positive this will look great. :D

Feel free to comment always like to hear what people think!
