Low MR2's, oh and hello :)

Post by Will_bmx »

Hi guys,
been a member over on mr2oc for awhile but thought I'd make the transition over to here while I get my MR2 back on the road after it was sandwiched in feb.
I'm wanting some inspiration for it, I think I know how I'm going to do it (it's currently black, with white enkei ep01's on it 16"). i fancy refurbing them black, with white enkei on the spoke where it's embossed and then white side wall writing ;) sitting on it's ar$e on bc coilovers.
However, I haven't seen many low mr2's, they all seem so high! and if they have no arch gap it's because they're running 18's.
Anyone got any pics of oem style mr2's that are sitting very low?
I can't seem to find many :(
Cheers
Will

My car was quite low on coilovers when I got it. It had 16" on but the profile of the tyres was such that the overall radius was the same as a car on factory 15" wheels.

See the pics in my garage (click the link under my feedback score), the first ones where the car has white wheels.

Edit: That said it's still pretty low now lol. This is a recent pic:

That's on Koni inserts & Eibach springs. Still 16" wheels and factory rolling radius.

nice man, like it with the white wheels more :p

Mine is low, but not low enough, think I'm going to put lower profile tyres on the 16's and slit it on the floor. mmm, slammage.

Currently sitting like this (when it has all the parts attached! haha)

looks good but if you want your wheels flush you'll need some stretched rubber cause they'll rub like a b1tch,, plus an arch roll... me thinks..

What tyres are you running front and back on that?

Heres mine 320mm gap from inside top of arch to centre line of wheel,on 16's 225/45 rear and 205/45 front

Ah,thought I'd seen a car like yours on 245/45 rears and wanted to see how they looked.

highwaystar and rob, those are the sorts of heights I'm on about, rob has the lowest with no arch gap and highwaystar has the body looking low. very nice one must say!
I realise to go as low as my photoshop I'd be pushing it, but I'd like lower profile tryes (say 40's) and sit it with virtually no arch gap. like my mates got his BB6 prelude, no scuffing and no arch gap, handles like a dream! and looks the nuts!

Yep the skirts used 2 catch on track with the standard rims on

The black enkies are what im running now with r888s, they are really light.

I taken a bit of neg camber out of the back as the rear was a bit difficult on very high speed corners.........ie i would spin

mmmmm not thought about playing with the front, as it turns in really good at the moment, i never get understeer. Do you go on track mate??

I am going to, I joined up to the wordsl smallest sprint track that's one mile down the road from me, curborough.
Had a few goes around there and I know I can push it on the limit. really fun. my car is now going to become a handling machine and hopefully baout 300 ponies when I'm finished helping her breath.
I'm kinda guessing at the camber figure but judging by the angle that it's leaning over to positive, you've got some more grip to be grabbed on the front end! just my 2p though, I'm no expert (although one day I will be a circuit master.lol)

Sounds good mate.

Ill have a look at the camber and play around with it mate :thumleft: .

I was running around 300bhp (b4 i slapped a td06 on) and i could stick with most cars on track, then i changed 2 r888s and carbotecs and there was not much that could stick with me  the difference with decent tyres was crazy!!!! .

Ive just had my car mapped with a hks 3037 and i cannot wait 2 get on track now

The sprint track sounds good mate, bit 2 far 2 go for me though :(

where did you find out about that??

they always used to do charity bike rides up there so when I was a kid they always used to mention it, but I never saw it. Then one day I decided I would drive up to find it and it's right next to the bloody kart track! lol so i have been going up to watch for the last like 3-4 years watching from the sidelines and thought sod it. my go! I can do better! and you know what, I can! haha, all the drivers of the quick machines are rubbish, they're all show and no go. amateurs lol.
I'm thinking of R888's next, I manage to get through avons and toyo t1r's in like 6-7 months, might as well do that much wear but going quick.haha.
what sort of power you running now?
I've just bought a buddy club spec two and decat to go on the back for when it's back on the road  moihahaha flames.
next up is bc coilovers and blacking up the whole car so it's just a monster.

You could always get a bung for the buddy club, i had a nur spec on my old, old set up and that was 103 db with the bung in and like 115 without

I dont like putting bungs in though as the egt will go up!!

Im running a normal departure 2 now and that comes in at 95 so i can get on any track 8)

Ive got a screamer pipe now though so that might b a problem.

Well im running 1.6bar on the 3037 and ryan said it will be over 400 and the torque was crazy so that should not be 2 far behind!!

Its loads LOADS quicker than when i was running 350 with the td06 it will be mental on track, bit of a handful thats 4 sure!!

I will chuck it on the dyno soon when i get some cash together. Spent loads on the 2 this year already!!
