Overheating. Am i that stupid!!!!!!!!!

i went to lincoln in my fiesta. Whilst i was up there the radiator was leaking into the footwell. No problem, this happened in my 106, ill just put some ragweld into the radiator to plug it up. Well it was sunday afternoon and no where was open so i heard you could use an egg. There was no Radiator cap so i put it in the coolant bottle. Driving home the car was overheating all the way.

Looked in the bottle this morning and there was an egg in there. I assume this was blocking the water flow. i emptied the bottle and cleared it out.

Will it be ok now or will the pipes have blockages, have i caused more damage. I cant tell untill i go for a fast long run

Thanks, it was like an orange poached egg. Just add a coolant change and i had to tip it all out. seems ok today though

Perhaps if the coolant as cold it would of been alright but i had just been driving for an hour

in all seriousness, the egg trick was reputed to work, but only if you could get the egg into the radiator itself. The coolant flow through the radiator would break up the egg, and the egg strands would eventually find their way to the leak and seal it for a short time.

Putting it in the expansion tank wouldn't work because there is no flow through the expansion tank so no way for the egg to get into the coolant system.

Yes i posted all my racing/RX8 stuff in off topic as i naturally would. But you can't be absolutely sure that i didn't post it elsewhere can you so you have no argument do you?

If you are still annoyed about a post i moved of yours, then get over it basically and learn to follow the rules.

I'm not going to move this thread but if its not about an MR2 it should be in Off Topic pure and simple. It states this in the rules, why not go have a look?

Yep LOL'd at the whole egg thing.

I'm not being 'rigid' I didn't move the post anyways though, i just suggested in future that posts on non-MR2s should only go in Off Topic. Someone else took umbridge about something else that happenned months ago when they blatantly broke forum rules. No worries as far as i'm concerned.

If we didn't enforce forum rules there would be all sorts of crap posted everywhere.

i recommend 8mins for hard boiled, 3-4 for soft boiled.

Come on Mods get a grip! Yes this is not about an MR2 but it is a mechanical post. I have a cooland leak on my two and a mate suggested the egg trick. I thought he was taking the pi$$ but at least he didnt make it up.
