i live in a pretty good area, i rang admiral and elephant and they qouted me 1500 for the gt turbo, but for the gts turbo they wanted 2500, dont know why its seems so high but it just is and iv had to get used to it,

i have even told the insurance that other people at the same age are insured for a lot less and they dont seem to care. im gutted because other people the same age can get insurance so cheap, iv never had a crash etc and yet they wont touch me for less than 2500 which i just cant afford!!

sorry about pouring my heart out guys :(

If your car is a GT and you have it insured as a GTS you are not insured. It's your responsibility to ensure you have provided the correct details of your car, the insurer would be within their rights to refuse you a claim should you make one. The model will be written on the boot and the log book, so there's no excuse for it really.

I know a couple of years ago i had a disagreement with elephant as they only recognised the turbo as 1 model. The GT is actually a UK NA car.

I don't know if this has changed since then though.

im 20 with no no claims and im less than a grand on a rev3 turbo
you might have to play about on the trim level on there website as there is lots of options (make sure its a turbo you choose though)

There's something very, very wrong with that.

Unless you do 0 miles, keep it in a garage and live in a zero crime rate area, that's just not right. Mine didnt go below a grand until I was over 25 with 4+ years NCB

there is nothing wrong with the quote, you just have to work it a bit, i do 3000 miles, have my dad and gran as named drivers and a high excess

When you say you have other drivers, are you guys the primary drivers with the car registered in your name? Or are you the named driver with the partent/relation as the primary driver?

I've spoken to a few insurers who said adding extra drivers shouldnt bring the price down at all.

Ziggy - a GT is a higher spec than a GTS - so a GT should cost more than a GTS, not a thousand less. I reckon as some one else mentioned, you;ve got it down (accidently) as a UK GT NA, not an import GT Turbo. Does it actually say turbo on your policy?

My insurance, at age 27 with 7 years NCB, cat 1 alarm, 4k miles, garaged, social only use was still over £750 a year and that was the cheapest I could get it. I know I dont live in the nicest of places, but I find it extremely hard to believe people aged 20-21 could get insured for anywhere near that.

I'm not any more, I sold the tubby and have a cacky Astra that only costs £200 to insure. The cheapest I could get a tubby for was around £600 (FC btw, not TPFT) but that would have been standard, mine was about 300ish bhp

Don't take this personally, but I work in insurance, I cant see how guys as young as you are even considered insurable on such a car, let alone at what I consider a cheap premium.

I once got quoted £4k a year on a Calibra turbo when I was 18

What's wrong with insuring a 21 year old on a car such as an MR2 turbo?

At 21 I considered myself a mature and decent driver....that's over 4 years of driving experience.

At the end of the day, you're either a complete d!ck who is bound to crash whatever car they own or you're someone who understands how the car drives/handles and pay attention to the road conditions. This is learnt fairly quickly in my opinion.

Edit - realised this is someone's "for sale" thread...good luck.

im the policy holder on my insurance, there is no mistake with the policy, the bell group for same reason are cheap for young drivers on certain cars

they would quote me when i was 19 with no no claims for less than a grand on a uk twin turbo supra, mk1 focus rs, rx8 231, bmw 330, accord type r, uk gt4, vr6 etc

dont what to take this thread anymore off track but if you have anymore questions start a new thread and il happly reply
