Thanks for all the nice comments guys...

Its took me many years to get the mr2 I always wanted... shame the government have now in effect banned the import of TRD2000GT's into the UK using their new SVA laws which came into force last year. It means on 3 officially built Toyota Technocraft Ltd. TRD2000GT (including mine) ever made it into Europe before they got banned. 2 Red ones and my purple one. What a shame as I believe its as close as Toyota ever got to producing their own Japanese supercar... 0-60 in 4 secs is just as respectable in 2005 as it was in 1998 !

Small turbos - they're not big and they're not clever!

I know its rude to ask but how much did that car cost? I assume ALOT given its probably one of the 38 fastest japanese road cars ever produced :)

for a car of its rarity i would have thought it woul dbe a fair bit higher than that... the spec list is very substantial..

Its a rev5 turbo car... even my current '99 rev5 (light mods) cost me over £12.5K !! so these prices are a little on the hagglingly low side. Rev5 Turbo's are rarer than hens teeth! They made less than a few hundred cars!

Actual receipts considered and prices of all parts seperately (new) bring total costs in excess of £60,000 if you include the original cost of the car... I didn't pay anything near that but to date I've paid approx £20K to get the car to its current state OTR.

My authentic (i.e. non replica) TRD2000GT Car also has only 28K miles on and is one of the newest TRD2000GT's produced. Its also officially recognised (unlike replica's) as a Kit car and thus I pay only £350 insurance per year for a 500bhp car. Not bad I am sure you'll agree.

The other 2 authentic TRD2000GT cars that Newera sold where both much older, one was a Rev1 1991 and the other Rev3 1994 editions, both red. Both with no engine modifications, bone stock behind the kit.

Regardless of all this talk about costs I dont plan to sell the TRD2000GT anyway because its taken me many years to get it ... you've also got to consider I actually sold my much cherished 'W plate Year 2000 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (uk car) in Bayside Blue as part of getting my hands on the best Rev5 mr2 turbos I could get... I believe the TRD2000GT to be a worthy replacement for it even if others disagree. My 2p's worth..

I plan for this car will be with me for many years to come ... The only thing now is to sell my Rev5 99 Turbo to get a 4 seater so i can essentially use the TRD2000GT on fun weekends/etc. days out only...

PS.. .also a word about Newera prices...

These are set BELOW trade prices because you PAY CASH up front for the car in advance of ever seeing it (relying on Miguels expertise in buying a mint car) and then have to wait an agonising 4-6 months while its shipped over and registered on the road... Real market prices are actually higher than prices quoted on their site otherwise people wouldn't bother to buy one...

I therefore heartily recommend Newera, especially if you want a PRE 1997 car (which is easier to SVA)...

hehe... Thanks

Yeh, its really brings a grin to my face driving it around. And always getting people with Camera Phones taking photo's when I stop at traffic lights in it.. :) A lot of fun... hell it makes me smile anway...

Actually scared the hell out of one of my work collegues the other day, he was proud of the performance of his spanking new BMW Z4 3.0 motor... took him for a quick blat down the road ... told everyone later that I nearly snapped his neck and that my car was certifiably dangerous... :)

In summary - "no I won't tell you how much it cost me" ;)

An absolutely delightful car and in my opinion one of the nicest MR2s in the world, I'm looking forward to seeing it in the flesh one day.
