Personally I'd stay with the semi synth 10w40 Magnetec mate. Consider though that pretty much any oil will be better than those around when the 2 was designed and built. Just stay with the right grade (and 10w40 is I believe the correct one for an N/A... it's certainly what I used for over 100k in my rev1).

I use 15/40 as cars with high miles should use a thicker oil to protect seals etc...

Think I'm due to change the oil soon, although I can't remember the frequency we need to change it ?

My car has just breached the 100,000 mile mark, I think previously I had used 10/40.

Millers Oils CFS 10w-40 Competition Full Synthetic ?

I'm still not sure on the difference for our cars in this case, between semi-syn and fully ?

I use Mobil 1 0W40 in my 3SGE. It's at 165k now and seems to work fine.

Cheap too, only £25 for 5 litres in Costco.

Its only thicker when cold which is a bad thing. A 5w or 0w will give better protection from a cold start. As oil warms it becomes thinner hence why you should drain the oil when its warm. A 15w-40 will be no thicker at 100c than a 5w-40.

You could use a high mileage oil but be careful what you class as "high mileage"!!!

In my mind you're better off changing your oil as often as you can (means you can check the condition of it more often also) so Magnatec 10w40 is a pretty decent spec at the cost and availability off the shelf, and means you can drop it fairly often and replace it. Costco used to do a decent deal last time I was in -about 40% off for 2 full tubs of it?

I'm most likely to go with 5l of Motul 6100 Synergie+ 10w40, is there much of a difference between that and Millers Oils CFS 10w-40 ?
