Ok looks like the bulb behind the heater direction controls has went

is it possible to change the bulb or do i need new control unit?

I think it's just bulbs that need to be replaced, as you can fit different colour bulbs should you want different coloured illuminated dash controls...

I think its this easy!

It's a right pain, you do have to disassemble the control unit and IIRC they are LEDs not bulbs.
