got red LED's in the now, one has failed and that's after only 2 years. I figured bulbs will last far longer but I kinda like the red

but some blue 501 bulbs in mine today as only one bulb was working, it obviously alot better as i can now see everthing at night but the colour seem at bit blotchy if you know what i mean

do you think leds would work better?

you tend to find LED's have bright and dark spots as they are directional. There are better spread LED's out there but I want to go back to bulbs. Hopefully the red ones will be as bright as the std units but er in red

Quick related question...

There are 5 big bulbs behind the dashboard.
Is the one on the far left (behind the fuel gauge) for something in particular?

I just got around to fitting red LEDs in my dash today and I found that the bulb-holder on the far-left was missing so I couldn't put a new bulb in there.
Even so, the dash seems to light up perfectly.
All the clocks (including the fuel gauge) are illuminated.

I tried sticking an original bulb in that location temporarily (cos I figured it'd show up easily against the other red LEDs) but it didn't light up and there was no voltage to the plastic circuit board there.

The red LEDs are looking pretty good IMO.
There's some slight blotchiness to the brightness but, all in all, it looks better in red than it did in green.

there are only 4 bulbs for the gauge cluster hence yours lights up just fine :thumleft: I have LED's currently and I find the odometer's difficult to read at night. Not usually a big deal but that coupled with one of the LED's fading so soon (2 yrs) I'm sticking bulbs back in which previously lasted 12yrs :D (new bulbs in lol)

It's a bit odd that there's an extra hole. You'd think they would have at least shoved a plastic bung in there or summat to stop dust getting into the instruments.

Ah well, least I have no need to worry about buying another bulb holder.

Cheers.
