Turn on the PS3 and got a message 'Rebuilding Database'! WTF?

Post by fizz »

Cant remember if it was turned off properly last night or if i kepted the power button down to force it to shut but as i turned it on this morning there was a message.

Please press 'x' on the controller to rebuild database.

Pressed it and it took a few min to complete while i crapped myself thinking ive lost all my stuff on the HD in terms of saved game data! ](*,) :pale:

Once it had completed i checked my stuff and everything was still there!

What was that about and im deffo going to copy all my saved game data onto a USB and whack it onto my PC as a backup!

Thats not really a bad thing tho, I hate having to delete the inbox it takes ageas with the multi button combo it open/dlete/close etc grrr

But your idea to back everything up is a good one and I might just do that soon as I've been looking at the YDL linux thingy

No one seems to know what/why it's for :?
Either your hdd got a bit corrupted, or it's defragging the hdd :-k

There's an option to do it manually though apparently:

Yeah.. i did a bit of investigating this morning on it.

From what i can see it looks like its defragging the machine. Im alwasy running up to capacity then deleting stuff so it makes sense.

With regards to that recovery mode... also saw that on youtube today as well.
