PADS- can you mix? Mintex 1144 on front, EBC Yellow on back???

Post by freak_in_cage »

Hi there,

looking at upgrading the brake pads on a Mk 2 Tubby before we do a track day. Most of the cars use is OFF track though.

The EBC yellows seem a bit contraversial- but atm i can buy Mintex 1144 fronts (rears not avaliable) for about £12 more than the yellows! I have used the 1144s before and they have worked well....

Has anyone mixed front and rear pads before?

Many thanks! :D :D

No problems at all, just dont mix L/R :oldtongue:

TBH, it's really common to deliberately mix pads on bikes to tweak the way it brakes.

Personally, I'd always want to put grabbier pads on the front and weaker ones on the rear so I guess it depends on the properties of the respective pads whether this is a good combination or not.

Why can't you put Mintex M1144 all round? thats the setup I'm using....

Never tried yellowstuff but they either get great reviews or rubbish :-k

I just went to my local motor factors and asked specifically for m1144 and they got me some in. Iirc they cost me something like £80ish fronts and the same again for the rear
