Reccomendations - MR2 Specialist in Southeast (nr London)

Post by Jim Galbally »

been stung SO MANY times by self claimed experts that havent a clue when it comes to cars, so i'm looking for personal reccoemdations for somewhere that knows that theyre doing in the southeast. In my opinion if i have to TELL soeone how something works then they shouldnt be touching my car!

I have a rev2 turbo and it just needs a general checkover and to sort some minor running issues (should be simple, think its just a boost leak, exhaust blow and geo setting, but still...)

So before i start picking random jap tuners out of the yellow pages can anyone reccmend somewhere that bdoes actually know what theyre doing. preferably with toyota diagnostic equipment but someone witha proper brain will be just as suitable.

cheers

For the Geometry I'd suggest Wheels in motion in HP5.

I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.

Do they actually work on cars though? I thought they just sold tuning/replacement parts?

I don't think so (and my parents live in the same town so I'm there often and have been to Fensport several times to pick up parts), not for customers anyway (though they do build there own Fensport cars of course).
Anyway Jim, Luke (and Harry) at Pacific Works do all the work to my car now and have for the last 2yrs or so and provide an excellent service at great prices. They know 2s backwards since that's almost all they work on and they're much closer to London than Fensport (in Cambridgeshire) anyway. Likewise WIM for geometry are very very good and only perhaps 40mins from Pacific Works (I'm there tomorrow for new front tyres and a touch more camber on the front).

Did loads of work on my Mk2.. changed the turbo, engine swap.. car was running sweet afterwards, and they even washed it for me as I was picking it up on my way to JAE :)

Hmmm, I stand corrected then... looks like I should be doing the apologising. If you say they've worked on your car Alan then of course I accept that they have, that said my own personal experience has been that they have told me that they didn't do mechanical work (though admittedly that's maybe 3/4 years ago now). Their website also doesn't mention it and in fact apologises for the fact (bar work on Motec engines).

PS. I've just come back from WIM and withdraw my earlier recommendation for them. I'll soon post up in trader feedback to explain why.
