The basics

The car was bought about a year and a half ago from down in Kent. I had it trailered up because I wanted a strong example of an N/A. I held out for the right one. Since then I have covered almost 8000 miles, most of which are motorway.

The car is a 1996 Toyota MR2 Revision 4 UK-spec T-bar in Black with the Normally Aspirated 2ltr 3SGE engine. From the factory these cars generate 173bhp.

The car is fitted with the Toyota Factory alarm + immob.
The figures

The car has covered 113'000 miles

The MOT runs out on 30/03/2010.

No Advisories at last MOT, absolutely flew through, the tester was really impressed with the condition of the car.

The Tax will be for 6 months.

The car is HPI clear and I can find no evidence or history of any crashes/write-offs.

The Modifications

Body
Black sidelights, Black front badge and Turbo Engine lid.

Eibach pro springs

These are really well handling springs whilst not ruining the comfort of the car. Highly rated as a top choice for MR2s, especially with all the bumpy UK roads.

15" Standard Alloys
Good tread on all tyres, in really good condition

The Chassis

The Suspension gives no knocks or bumps - dampers make no abnormal noises and show no signs of weeping.

The wheel bearings display no signs of play and make no noise.

The Brakes

I fitted new discs and pads to the front when I bought the car, and bled the system. Still plenty wear to go. Rears might need changing in the next year or so. The car stops in a straight line, and the brakes performed well at the MOT.

The Handbrake action is smooth and free and MOT brake tests confirmed it was applying more than enough force.

The Engine, Clutch and Transmission

The only modification to the engine is a pipercross induction kit with cold air feed. Extra bit of BHP/Really good sound when you put your foot down but not loud at cruising/low speeds.

Brand new NGK iridium spark plugs just been put in. Starts with no struggle every time.

Consumes no oil between changes. Recent oil change also.
The engine pulls well through the rev-range with no misfires or flat-spots.

The clutch friction plates wore out in December, and at the beginning of this year I had a brand new full Exedy Racing clutch kit fitted. The clutch feels fantastic now.
I also had the gear bearings replaced so all changes are nice and tight.

The Exhaust

I noticed a slight blow with the exhaust recently at the passenger side. I will be trying to have this sorted before sale. Its not immediately obvious. I was intending to buy a blueflame exhaust to replace the standard one at one point anyway.

Service History

Full service history. I've done most of the work on the car myself, or for the more tricky time consuming jobs I've had a local mechanic do them. The Dundee section of the MR2OC have also helped me work on it at various points in its life.

Bodywork Condition

The front of the car is stonechipped in places as expected (some chips touched-up by previous owner). The car could do with a machine polish. I've always meant to have it done but never got round to it.

There is a small dent in the drivers door from tescos, about a 2p coin.
Only sign of rust is a very tiny amount coming through underneath the passenger door. It's never worsened in the year and a half I've owned it.
Aside from that, the usual for a car of this age. I've always meant to have the little bits seen to by a mobile bodywork specialist but never got round to it because they aren't that noticeable. See pictures for the worst bits.

Interior

Currently I have red recaros from a Honda integra fitted to the car. These feel amazing. However if the buyer prefers, I can source some standard seats and lower the price. The doorcards are suede inserts.

The steering wheel is a bit worn on top but not too noticeable. The airbag has never been deployed.

Stereo System

At the moment I have 6x9s in boxes with an amp that fits behind the drivers seat. This goes with an alpine headunit with ipod/iphone interface. I will only include these if I get the right price for the car.

Faults

The t-bars are known to leak on MR2s. Mine seemed ok until the snow recently. I think combined with the cold it let some drips in on the worst days. I have since used the silicone method to stop this, and it has been fine since. The T-bars can still be removed with no hassle for those sunny days.

£2200 with Recaros

£2000 without or other offers.

I am located in Dundee- close to the University and Train Station. I have family in Glasgow and Edinburgh also so I don't mind driving to either airport, or to meet someone closer.

Please email all enquiries to [email protected] or call/text 07756399571

Cheers

Sam
