Just about to make an oil change- do people recommend a flush through before the new stuff? If so, any particular flushing agent?

My old man always puts additives in his old cars, slick 50 or some stuff he seems wowed by from halfords just now. Personally i would rather just spend the extra money on a decent quality oil in the first place.
