Had 360 for a week now, My thoughts.........

Post by mikee66 »

So thats (just over) a week i've had my 360 and tbh i'm impressed how far it's come since i had my last one (for Bioshock)

I really like the way the dashboard is laid out and whilst it was a nightmare to find anything to start with i'm getting the hang of it now.

I even bought a years membership to live for £26 and 2100 points and prrompltly bought trials hd which is really good.

I got Forza 3 and gow 2 with the console and tbh i'm really not feeling the love for gow2, It feels very dated and the graphics imo are not really at the level i was expecting. I fund the control system extremely clumsy and unintuitive and generally cannot fathom why it's been raved about? I loved the first one but that was a few years ago and imo games have moved on a lot further than this. The game is also very linear and i have had a fair few bits of slowdown already in the game and i've hardly done anything.

4 out of 10

Forza 3 on the other hand is outstanding! The graphics are fantastic! The loading times are a pain though but the game makes up for it immensely!
The way the cars drive and are controlled is pretty much spot on and tbh pretty identical to gt5p allbeit this is a bit more arcadey esp with the rewind button (which i have used)

I love the auction houses although i can never seem to find any bargains lol but the graphics side of it is just not my thing.

I have just ordered Liberty city stories so i'm looking forward to that coming as The ballad of gay tony seems to be much like vice city which imo is the best Gta title to date.

Overall whilst i have played my ps3 more i'm still enjoying the 360 and looking forward to the exclusive games that will be released.

I got a 360 and Forza for Christmas, I haven't switched the PS3 on since - like you I've been very impressed with the experience, a Sony fanboi has had his eyes opened for sure.

Having said this I don't get time to play too much due to work, I need some gifted cars and things to help me along :)

"turbotapeworm" if anyone fancies joining me on a circuit and watching me fall off the track all the time.

Hey Mike

I've got some fast setups. I'm a 31veteran online but i only race for fun and i don't use the scoreboard cars. It's very rare someone beats my 993 to the first corner.

I'll throw you one over if you send me a friend request. x3ogPSIDAZ

GOW control system is a grower, like many other shooters. First few hours are fliddly but eventually it becomes 2nd nature and you wonder why you were ever frustrated with it.

Graphics, well thats personal opinion. I loved them.

I still havent got Forza yet. Possibly next month.

I still dont like the new menu system compared to the old one. I feel it's gone from being easier to use and better looking than the PS3 one to worse.

Must admit I'm surprised you think GOW2 looks dated... I think the graphics are still up there and love the gameplay... I don't think I've seen anything that beats RE5 though for graphics yet... just insanely good, shame the game was so short though.

I guess its all just personal preference though.

Forza is great though fair play... just wish they had more Brit tracks on it... maybe a DLC oming soon?

i have to say i enjoy forza3 too, but as my mate has the 360 and i have the ps3 i dont play it too often. so over christmas i thought what the hell, while im waiting for gt5 i'll buy need for speed shift for a laugh and im hooked. the tuning system is more advanced than forzas, deffinatly more of a drivers game than forza, but forza is obviously far more open and has a larger community for decals and vynals.

both great games, but im loving shift more :thumleft:

Hmmmmm. Chav ay, Have you played this particular edition? I can accept that the "fast and furious" arcade style editions were very mainstreem popular but pre these the need for speed franchise was a light simulator and a good one too. Shift is a return to this genre and is akin to gt and forza, if you haven't played it I really would, you will most probably be suprised

ok fair enough its ok, but not in the class you mentioned it in, I also played on the PS3 version in currys a few weeks back when they were taking 30 mintues to find me a game they said they had but didnt. If anything it was worse on the ps3.
