[Mk2] [Generic] Will a 16x9" rear wheel @ ET +35 rub on a 40mm lowered car?

Post by MrSix »

I'm looking at getting some new wheels for the car and I've found some lovely 16" wheels that are 16 x 7 (fronts) and 16 x 9 (rear) with 205-45-16 and 225-45-16 tyres.

My car is a 95 UK rev3 and it's on black billies with Eibach pro springs.
I've used the wheel calculator and it's saying that the rear wheels will be ~0.2mm further out than flush with the arches.

Will this cause me problems with rubbing or should they be ok?

When comparing the rolling radius etc. with my standard wheels they are identical, it's just the extra width I'm concerned about.

I'm looking at making an offer on these wheels ASAP so if you can help please let me know your thoughts soon!

Many thanks.

*EDIT*
Thinking about it, 225 is going to be pretty stretched on a 9" rim is it not?

If your on eibach pros your not lowered 40mm. You've got 25mm lowering.

They should be fine. If worst comes to worst you could get the arches rolled, but im on 16" eibachs and the wheel isnt that close at the back. Its not like youre going rally driving either.

Are Eibach pros only 25mm? I thought they were 40!

I'm now more concerned about the stretch on the tyres, 225 on a 9J rim is too much for my liking.

offset wise you'll be fine. personally id go for a 245 rear tyre and 215 front. 225 on a 9j is too much stretch imo.

why get wide wheels to then put skinny tyres on? :?
