Goldeneye (N64)

Grand theft auto vice city (PS2)

Counter strike source (PC)

Hard to decide which 3, so I went with the 3 games i've spent the most of my life on. other notable games, fallout series, half life series, zelda games.

I think i'd struggle if you said 3 per system so I'll just briefly(ish) run off some titles.

Arcade:
---------
Bubble Bobble -Quite possibly my number 1 game and still to this day haven't beat it on 1 credit, Grrrrr!
Black Tiger - Capcom need to do a HD remake of this
Wonderboy - SEGA need to a HD remake of this too :)
R-Type 1 & 2

Amiga:
--------
Shadow of the Beast - Sounds and visuals finally put the last nail in the Atari ST's coffin and proved the Miggy was superior in every way
Beneath a Steel Sky
Moonstone
Hired Guns
Fury of the Furries
Syndicate
Wizkid
Push Over
The Settlers
Hunter
Myth
D/Generation
Lemmings 2: The Tribes
Prince of Persia
Gods
Flashback
Turrican II
Deluxe Galaga - Awesome Shareware remake of Namco's Galaga that was better than the original in every way. The programmer re-made it for Windows and Mac a few years ago and called it Warblade :)

SNES:
-------
R-Type III

Megadrive:
------------
The Immortal

GBA:
------
Mario vs Donkey Kong

PS1:
-----
Metal Gear Solid
R-Type Delta
Einhander
Final Fantasy VII

PS2:
-----
ICO
GTA: Vice City
R-Type Final

PS3:
-----
Uncharted 1 & 2
Bioshock
Demon's Souls
..... Hopefully a new R-Type

I never had an Amiga. At what point, in relation to say Atari2600/NES/SNES/N64 was it around?

Nice list Andy.

Moonstone, damn what a game, can't believe i missed that one off my list.
The "shaking the dice" scene while gambling in the inn was very amusing to a 13 yr old boy.

More Amiga awesomeness;
The Killing Game Show
Walker
Chaos Engine
and
Alien Breed (Special Edition) with the incredaby stroppy woman who'd tell you to "Insert disk 2" no please or anything.

It still seems to have quite a large following going off the forums and thanks to Toni Wilen via the fabulous WinUAE :)

There's a handful of "scene" guys still about and thanks to the internet programmers of unreleased/canned titles have been tracked down including source code burried on old HDD's and games have been compiled, finished and released 10+ years on.

I occasionally boot up the PS3 in Linux so have can have a nostalgic blast on some Miggy games. It took a while to get it all running properly but playing Moonstone on a big screen in 1080p with various pixel filters via wireless Dualshock 3 is pretty neat :D

Don't usually post in here but saw this thread and got me thinking, in no particular order:

Super Street Fighter II Turbo (SNES) - Ken FTW

Counter-strike 1.6 (PC) - The best online game ever made IMO (apart from chu chu rocket :^o  ), oh the days of 56k with 250 ping lol

Super Mario Kart (SNES) - Have yet to play a rubbish mario kart

A lot of good games i've forgotten about have been mentioned though, DOTT, Goldeneye, GTA Vice city, Unreal tournament... etc.

I'm not a fan of newer games, COD i just don't get, graphics have got really good but they seem to have forgot about gameplay.

I think they're starting to realise that although i havnt played a lot of the recent big sellers, I was really disappointed with COD4 amongst others.

The only newish games i play now are fifa, forza, day of defeat source and occasionly CS source. I did however have half an hour on street fighter IV which i did like i must say.

4-way mario kart on N64 is a regular along with the aforementioned SNES classics

ooh just remembered final fantasy vii \:D/

Every single time I have ever played an old game I hold dear to my heart it has ruined the memory.

I would rather confine them to memory now and remember them for what they were, good for the time.

I cant say there is a single game pre current gen that I would say was better in terms of anything what so ever. Graphics, controls, content, gameplay.

They were good then, but up against what we have now they're generally very very poor.

You're right there.

I used to play TLL (Tornado Low Level) for hours on end on the Speccy.
Played it not so long ago on an emulator, and after 30 seconds I'd decided it was just awful and switched it off.

And people today complain that games don't have the gameplay old games used to ](*,)

As I said, it's because peoples memories give these games far more credit than they deserve. Old games are so fiddly to play by todays standards.

It's a bit like cars. 10 years ago a 10 year old car wouldnt have felt that old. Now, if you've been driving a 10 year old car for a while and went back to what is now a 20 year old car, it's going to feel horrible.

hahaha, I remember the game so well, and there was one level I just couldn't do which I want another crack at.

Yeah, being an early 80's game, it will be bab but still wouldn't mind a crack at it. Even searched my parents loft for the console but fear it's been binned :(
