[Mk2] [Generic] Tein Type Flex Coilovers?

Post by eurosmith »

Is anyone else running these on their mk2?

If so does anyone know how to change the damping settings on them? I know its to do with the small hole in the top of the shock absorber itself but do you wind the allen key in, out? take it out competely and adjust internally?

Any help will be appreciated.

Cheers in advance,

Are your's pretty firm too? Not sure if it's more to do with spring rates myself but i bought the car with them fitted and lowered and i'm unsure if i can "soften" the damping slightly. Certainly would help with the state of the roads now the snows gone ](*,)

I'm from norton canes near cannock and lichfield, whereabouts are you based mate?

from stoke on trent mate not far away was dating a girl from down your way late last year, i try keep away from that end of town, was on the chase one night when with the girl i was dating when three blokes come from behind the tree`s with there zips down, scared the hell out of me lol

think you soften the damping on top not had chance have a good look at mine yet i want to stiffen mine up a bit more

mine is pretty solid though not sure what settings there on though

im not 100% sure though as i think you can use the cogs too on the trut itself but you will need the spanners for that :-k

Haha, cannock chase is the midlands dogging hotspot dude! It's pretty shocking up there sometimes.

I don't have the c spanners but i'm pretty sure a set of grips will sort the collars out, i've replied on your topic "which teins are these?" i'm gonna start by taking practically all of the preload off the springs all round whilst jacked up and go from there, i understand performance coilover setups are firm but mine is ridiculous - it makes grit feel like speed bumps!

Let me know if you work out the damping adjustment routine too as i don't have the click tool i keep reading about.

Cool, that's what forums should be about tbf, didn't know there was a coventry meet either so i'll look into that one - I know about the wednesday night one in kidderminster which was last night i think - might try and get out to it next month.

What exhaust are you swapping over to then?

From what i can gather looking at that PDF file my fronts must be set to the softest damping setting as when i turn the allen key screw anti-clockwise it simply threads out of the shock itself.
