NO!!

The top cog controls the preload on the sping and the one directly below it is the locking ring for it.

The bottom one controls the ride height.

They are Type-Flex mate. More expensive than superstreets! Very good shocks!

+1
they are flex super streets do notr have seperate preload and height adjustment

the lower lock nut adjusts the ride height basically loosen it and then turn the whole shock in the hub to make the height go either up or down ( although if you have edfc motors unplug these first as the wiring ends up a bit twisted if you dont

the 2 nuts back to back adjust the preload on the springs .i have these set up so there is just a tiny tension on the springs when the car is jacked up ,any more tension and i found they were just too hard on the road

just a quick bump i have ordered some spanners so just want a answer. when adjusting ride height on the bottom cog how can i make sure both sides are the same can i do this by measuring the distance between the cogs or to the bottom of the strut?

once my archs are rolled its time to play how low can we go :) :thumleft:

I would probably give someone like Wheels in motion a call first, just to get a clear idea what's envolved and what the consiquences are. Getting the heights right is just a start, it may be worth finding out if the car had a proffessional setup when the suspension was installed.

But having said that, there's lots you can do with them :thumleft:

Type Flex...great shocks.

I have mine complete with EDFC and also had the whole car set up with corner weighting. I was sat in the car and its weighed, then each corner is independantly adjusted for optimum cornering.

Might have something to do why my car was so grippy on the Trackday at Anglesey last year.

There is a bit of spill on coner weighting here:

you undo the locking collar on the bottom fixing, then turn the whole spring strut assembly (obviously while jacked up  )

threading it in will lower the car and threading out will raise the car. measure from 2 fixed points before you do anything so that you can lower the other side by the exact same amount.

you will also need a full wheel alignment after your done as lowering the car will increase negative camber and wear the tyres on the inside edge

get a vernier calliper or a decent ruler that has a Zero edge then measure the amount of Leg protrusion(black bit) there is out of the bottom of the green 'hub' section. on the front shocks iirc, the leg will be protruding lower than the hub section. on the rear, the leg will remain inside the hub section so you will have to measure the distance from the bottom of the leg to the bottom of the hub section.

hope that makes sense.

That's confirmed my suspicions mate cheers, i'm gonna get mine on the ramp saturday and setup as you've described as i feel the front springs are preloaded to high heaven - hence the extremely harsh and bouncy ride.

Don't forget that tyre pressure and damping effect 'bouncyness' too. So check and make note of the tyre pressures and what damping settings your using first.

The springs should be wound to the same length both sides, the lower perch should be used to make sure both sides have the same ride hight when putting the car back on the ground and a trick I learnt was to set the dampers to 'soft' before doing anything, this alows the suspension to settle quickly when jacking and putting the car back to the ground repeatedly.
