Hi Guy's...yes the alternators packed in again, this is my second one which was a reconditioned, nearly new item. It's been in the car for about 3yrs and the car starts fine (new battery) but the battery is not being charged and all the idiot lights come on the dash. Is it the alternator or is it this black and yellow wire gremlin? How can I tell? I'm selling the car and would like to have this sorted out.
Many thanks in anticipation

You just need a multimeter to check the black/yellow wire.

The plug on the alternator has 3 wires on it one is black/yellow.

All 3 wires should have a 12V feed to them with the ignition switched on.

If you havent got 12V at all 3 wires then theres your fault, generally the black/yellow is at fault.

Thank you for the info
How do I know which alternator replacement is required for a 92 N/a GT UK spec?
Does it have the round or square connectorand what is the amp requirement?
