Alloy wheel advice please :o)

Post by Debs »

I am looking at putting some new alloy wheels onto my car as mine are damaged. I have a rev 3 turbo. I would like to put 16'' wheels on mine but I understand they are supposed to be staggared. I really like the Lenso RS5 alloys but when I give the tyre sizes from my old wheels I am having trouble finding some that will fit without compromising the handling of my car. At the moment I have 225/45/ZR16 on the front and 24545/ZR16 on the rear.

Basically what I'm wanting to know is what is the optimum wheel/tyre size to go for? I want it to look good but I don't really want to compromise on handling. Any advice would be great because I'm really struggling to know what to go for.

Thanks :D

They were very wide! They were Work alloys, Japanese I think but I can't get them anywhere. They were nice split rims. I damaged them when I hit a bit of water and lost the back end. The handling never seemed as good in mine as other mr2s I've driven which is why I want to get the size right

It has been lowered which I've been told can affect the handling. The only thing that concerns me is that I am being told the wheels should be staggerd. Whilst wheel shopping I just want to get the correct size and stagger but there seems to be a lot of variants

as long as you stagger your tyres you should be ok. I have Rota 7Js on just now with 205/45/16 at the front and 225/45/16 at the back.

I dont know much about the size's etc, but i would go 7.5J for the rear and possibly 7J for the front.

Thanks everyone for your help. I think I've got a better idea of what sizes to look at now. Now I've got some wheel shopping to do :D
