[Mk2] [NA] Dash warning lights problem... Urgent help needed!

Post by ChefAngus »

Recentley on my k-reg mr2 mk2 2ltr na....
Some dash warning lights have come on constantly. Before they came on permanently they did intermittently flash on and off over the last couple of weeks.

The problem lights are as follows; The oil level light, the engine cooling failure light.the battery light-the meter is sitting just above half! And an explanation mark, in a circle in brackets.

Strangely the engine management light is not on!
Any ideas pls anyone?
Thanx 4 your time :-s

Your alternator's not supplying enough current. Could be goosed alternator, could be broken loom to alternator 3-pin connector.

Check voltage level at battery with engine on and off.

Take 3 pin plug off alternator with engine running and check for +12v on all 3 pins.

check the wire at the back of the alternator. I had a garage faff about with testing things for ages and it turned out to be a loose wire i discovered myself.
