[Mk2] [Turbo] Wont hold full boost?

Post by eddo »

Hey, im forcing 1 bar through my mr2 rev 3 engine, and it peaks at just above a bar but slowly drops down on wide open throttle. im running a stock rev 2 dump valve venting to atmosphere and using a ball and spring type manual boost controller.

any ideas how to make it hold boost?

cheers :)

EBC will help mate with the boost!

Doesn't your dump valve sound like a bus :-) I'd get a propper one as well if your venting it to atmos

hi mate, so ebc is the computer type controller with a solenoid? Yeah the stock valve wont sound as good as a proper dumper but im not bothered about the noise so id only shell out for a decent one to help hold the boost.

so im guessing its a mixture of a poor dumpvalve and boost controller causing me the problems?

cant really afford to spend anything atm so il try switching to my mates bleed valve see if thats any better?

Check for boost leaks around the intercooler to throttle body pipe, this is quite common and usually just needs a tighten of the jubilees or fit some uprated mikalor clamps.
